I believe that the B18b is better for boost due to the lower compression ratio. someone correct me if i'm wrong.

I'd go with a CRV block... its a bored-out B18B w/ thicker cylinder walls, best for turbo (and doesnt the 98-99 B20's have like 8.8:1 c/r?)!

the jdm b20b 96-98 is 8.8 mated with a b16 head brings it to 9.0 which is prettty good for turbo i have had my set up for a only a few months and have had very few problems only map sensor issues but i think that is fixed now has not acted up in a while b20'z are great though i would add a vtec head though it is just better that way what is honda with out vtec .. that wouldnt be any fun

the b20 with SiR head would be probably one of the bes setups, but it's probably FAR from simple to accomplish correctly. This is why I would reccomend the B18b over the B20, because of sheer simplicity. Also, I would reccomend the b18b over the B18c1 for many reasons
A) it's MUCH cheaper
B) it has a longer stroke, and will produce much more TORQUE than a b18c1
C) Low compression, I believe it's 9.2:1, that let's you boost freely.
D) There is some controversy with VTEC + turbo, but from what I hear, there can be problems with vtec cams overlapping too much, but I could be wrong.

get most boost for the buck B18b. best motor b18c1. on the street IMO the vtec motor will always yield more power down the road.

What about a built a B18C vs. a built B18B? I'm assuming the B18C will give a definite increase in HP over the B18B. correct me if i'm wrong.

Also, what about a built b16a vs. built b18b?

By built I mean, new pistons, rods, sleeves, and all that other good stuff.

if they were both fully built, the b18c1 would yield much bet hp. I still think that the b18b would have more torque, but HP is more important in a light honda (imo)

b16 is good cuz it rev's really high, that's about it...I would take the b18b over it.

From all the dyno plots I have seen and experience with my setup vs. a friends B18B, I find that B18C1's usually make more peak HP and sometimes more peak TQ. And B18B's sometimes make more peak TQ and always make TQ sooner then B18C1's.
