Where to vent crankcase when boosting?
It just occured to me why I'm smelling oil now that the turbo is installed: The hose that vents the crankcase is not connected to anything!! There's not a ventcock for it in my IC piping.
Moreover, an Acura tech came by the garage when we were installing the kit and said that the positive pressure created by the turbo would be terrible for the engine if the crankcase were to see the boost pressure....
Isn't this what a PCV valve is all about? It has the little ball in it that only moves one way, so that vapor can leave the crankcase, but not enter it. What's wrong with rigging one of those up between the crankcase and throttle body? I'm sure that this is something totally juvenile, but I have to ask somewhere!
Thanks,
Nick
