Well what size tv did you want? If you wanted a bigger tv you would almost have to go with them seperate, If you were just looking for somthing small then I dunno, I was never a big fan of the combos cause if one breaks your fucked.
I always suggest never getting a 2 in 1, it may save room but if you want some good quality and upgrade options seperates are the way to go.
I would now suggest a VCR and DVD in one but it will NOT allow you to copy a DVD to VCR (some will ) but they seem to getting better.

Ive heard the combo dvd players can break after useing them for a few months. Plus, if you get it fixed, it will probaly be expensive, and you will be without a TV while they fix it. DVD players are getting cheap, so I would say just get seperate TV and DVD player
always go separates unless you really don't care about your investment (i.e. combo tv/vcr to go in the kitchen). Also, what do you need a vcr for? I just pulled mine out of my rig... Don' use it since I got the tivo.
I just went through the same thing. There is a thread about HD ready TV's you may want to look at. I'd just get everything seperate. You don't want to be without a tv if the dvd breaks. I do have a dvd/vrc combo that I like though. That seems to be a good idea to me.
