Blu-ray Players Outsell HD DVD by More Than Three to One
The Blu-ray Disc Association has provided new data that shows Blu-ray players have a commanding lead over HD DVD players. Blu-ray also dominated high-def movie sales during Turkey week.

The latest data from the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) states that through Black Friday of this year, 2.7 million Blu-ray players have been sold. This figure includes, for the first time, PlayStation 3 consoles as well, apparently in response to recent data from the HD DVD camp, which included sales of the Xbox HD DVD player in their numbers. 750,000 HD DVD players (including the Xbox 360 add-on) were sold through Black Friday.
Taking into account the additional video game console related sales in this movie format war, therefore, indicates that Blu-ray players have outsold HD DVD players by well over three to one.
Blu-ray is also excelling in software. The BDA said that according to Nielsen VideoScan, Blu-ray movies represented 72.6 percent of all high-definition discs sold during Thanksgiving week. "Despite the $99 HD DVD fire sale, Blu-ray movies were flying off the shelves in this crucial holiday shopping period," the BDA commented.
