um, yeah, do you notice a diff between VHS and DVD? There's a huge diff between basic cable and HD go to your local electronics store and see for yourself.

The simple answer to your question is yes, there is a difference. HD is just amazing to watch. The real question is is it really worth the extra money that an HDTV will set you back? I don't really have the answer to that one as it would differ for everyone.

My cable company provides the set top box and the cables for free. As well the service. Just call them up and say I got hdtv....

They come and hook you up. Make sure everything runs right and leave.

There are a lot of nice units for sale for cheap. I would possibly wait a lil longer for more price drops and newer models.

What size TV do you want , how much do you want to spend. Just do some price and comparison shopping.

Take all the time in the world. Wait that week to goto the store and get a good look at things. Bring stuff your acustom too , bring your favorite movie.

Watch at other stores....try to get comfortable with someone maybe they will get you a good deal or find your tv at an authorized dealer for less and ask them to price match it.

Then you get good service and price at your local store

depends mostly on what you buy initially. most HD tvs will have the HD receiver built into it, otherwise you are buying an HD monitor which you will then need to buy the HD receiver

Absolutely. The clarity/resolution is so much higher. I find that people just stare at it in silence the first time they see it. If you do buy an HDTV, it may be wise to just pick up a HDTV monitor, and buy the tuner separately. The tuner technology changes faster than the TV's do, so you'll want to update that faster than the TV. I just picked up a Samsung DLP (digital light processor) TV and its unreal...its like you're there. We put Jay Leno on the other night (shot in HD), and its just gorgeous.

i just bought a Toshiba HDTV 57", and then realized i have to purchase digital cable at my local cable provider (time warner) to make the pictures look like it was at the store. i wish they would give them to us for free. always find way to make us subcribers pay more.

yup nothing in life is free, it is worth it though, its a shame to have and HD capable set and watch basic cable on it. Just make sure you hook it up w/the good cables to ensure a sweet pic, nice tv BTW

isn't the comp monitor made of hd technology and it's been around for a long time? i dunno that's what i heard. we got a hdtv and it's pretty much a waste. we got basic cable and picture look so crappy on it. i dunno why my dad bought it when he watches the small 27" sony tv while my baby siblings watches barney on the hdtv.
