My Prelude VTEC has Platinums plugs for the stock part #.
Some run platinum or copper stock. Some say copper is better conductor , but patinum lasts longer and I believe retains a smoother idle as well is a little more durable.
Glad to see you guys getting good results from this article/thread. Feel free to post any more questions or comments or results that you have gotten.
Also remember when doing any mod or maintenance to your honda , to always remove negative battery terminal , to reset ECU.
Also good spark plug is the NGK wires. You can find a few sets for each vehicle. Im running the 8.0mm Blue NGK wires....
Reason why its good , it fits like stock, Ive tried other wires and they dont fit so well....like to fall off and so on.
Damned good info mike , I read this a while ago but didn't pay much attention to it then.
Now it makes me want to try the iridiums on my LS/vtec-T (probably wouldn't help much), but yeah NGK is what I've always sticked with and they work perfect. I tried putting in wal-mart bosch spark plugs once because I was in a hurry and needless to say she didn't like them very much ... I then qickly put the old ngk's back until I had time to replace them with new NGK plugs
I just tried the Bosch platinum... would have been better off leaving the plugs with 20m in the engine. They is no difference at low speed but on the highway the car has almost no pickup in 5th gear at 80 mph.. I have to downshift to get any acceleration at all. It also feels as is running rough. I will be changing to Densos ASAP.
The cat code is also on but I installed these well before that.
Can you use NGK wires for a 00 Civic SI on denso iridium plugs for a Civic EX?
Im only able to find NGK red wires for the SI, does it make a difference?

I thought that only the IK16 would fit on my car? So for a regular 2000 Honda Civic EX would you recommend Denso Iridium IK22, IK20 or IK16? Im a led foot if it helps at all?
Denso Iridium all the way. Ever since I replace my old bosch with Denso man it feels so smooth and much better. Thanks to this article I feel better cause i didn't know anything about plugs esp. bosch sucks.

Like Ive said in many posts. Denso Iridiums are cheaper and "in theory" perform better. Due to the smaller electrode.
If your interested in what plug you need. Goto densos website and reference your car. Otherwise call up places like autozone , give them your car and they will tell you what plug you need in the denso and if they carry them.
Its pretty simple , you can also just reference your plugs range and gap and just buy the closest thing to it for the denso plug.
after reading your guide i quite like the idea of fitting denso iridium plugs, the problem i have is the spec of the plugs denso recommends. they say i should fit IK22 plugs but they have a 0.8mm gap however my handbook for the car states 1.1mm. i checked the ngk iridium plugs out for my car and they have a 1.1mm gap, so my question is if i fit IK22 plugs will it damage my ignition in any way or cause my car to run badly due to a weaker spark ???
