I used Simple Green to clean my engine bay today. Needless to say, I was pretty shocked with the results. I just sprayed it all over (without diluting) then a couple mins later washed it off and dryed.

I just covered up the distributor and alternator with an plastic bag. Although while I was washing the bay the bag to the alternator came off and was exposed to water, nothing happened and everthings coo.

but i am canadian so i dont have access to meguiars APC and hyper dress but you lucky americans can make your engine pretty easy lol
The exhaust manifold is pretty much cast iron, but the head and block are entirely aluminum.
The distributor is the thing where the spark plug wires come out of. The distributor is behind the engine on the driver's side and has a belt attatched to it.
