New SHO Front Page

Guys,

Mike and I have been discussing the look of the current home page and want your input on some new features we could add.

Here are some we are thinking of:

- Honda News
- Latest Posts
- Feature Car
- Links to Popular Sections

Please feel free to add to this list things that you think SuperHonda needs on the homepage!

i don't like the google ads where they are one bit. seems to break the continuity of every page. i like the ads better in the dead space at the top-right side of the page.

The new tabs at the top i like, though i wish the user random pictures would come back. I liked seeing the pictures for some reason (that is until i see porn).

the problem with a feature car is that those things tend to not get changed (there was a civic ride of the month for april '03 or something like that hanging around for 2 years... it might still be there )

There were ads in that spot before? I dont even remember us having a ride of the month on the frontpage. Hmmmm. Changed the websites look overall a few times between 2003-2005. Normally starting fresh so it couldnt have hung around for long. Even now the frontpage is somewhat up to date....not much has happened since we hit the 100,000 mark.

But more is in store. What would you guys like to see on the frontpage.

If your having trouble with the search that can be fixed. I have a feeling I know what it is. Ill look into it tommorrow.

the site sponsors ads were there for awhile.

R-O-T-M was never on frontpage, just in civic non-tech.

Peronsonally, I think it's pretty optimized right now... but that's just from a web-design POV. Simple, gets the point across, and easy to navigate (for me anyways).

For the life of me I can't think of anything I would like to see on the frontpage -- college is stifiling my creativity anymore. About all I can suggest is some visual enhancements perhaps? But that's even a bit much for a forum to have, so I don't know.... I'm rambling now. good luck guys.

Honestly, I never really noticed how much was going on with the front page in the first place. On full screen, all I see is the superhonda name, the big picture, some sponsor news at the bottom and of course the links across the top (forum;photo etc...). Until today... Ive never really scrolled down to see what was at the bottom of the page. :-p

Ive seen on other sites how most information is kinda boxed off on the sides and such. Scionlife has a pretty nice setup. some might consider it a bit busy but I personally see it as straight to the point.

Basically... the JUMBO Logo pic, although a very nice pic, has gotta go!

As far as a Feature Ride section.... I've always liked the Idea but it really depends on how it's handled. I think most SHO members would agree that we dont want to hear people crying about how they should've been featured. Granted, no matter how it's done, there will be those who always think their ride should be featured but execution can at least limit those numbers. Whether or not it's Honda/Acura only has partially to do with this. (for example, photoshop contests tend to bring out whiners from time to time) It's usually a mild vs wild thing.

or no. anyways i think the front page should have different user rides on here so each time u visit the site you see a diff. car. that would be cool. i dunno ppl like pictures.

I think the mods and Admin should pick a feature ride every month by scanning people photo galleries and seeing how active they are on the forum

It was just a quick mockup, id assume id make room for 20 posts if we decided todo that..

I dont think i'll be working much more on it, unless i got the go ahead from the site leaders...I dont wanna waste my time, i think it would be right now, as im sure they have their own ideas.
