they started making diablos in like 86 or something. 6 speeds weren't exactly all the rage back then.

Gear indicators are wonderful on a sequential but they don't really serve any purpose on a stick unless your linkage is total mush.

like the idea alot but.......

granted I have never driven a lambo, but as far as I know the fulcrum point in the lambo shifter is right under the 'gate' the problem with your idea would be if you have any slop in your shifter you will end up hitting the "gate" if you can tighten this it would work great. the lighted numbers are a great touch. and from what my father tells my the older lambo's had problems with hitting the "gate" the fix was to move the fulcrum right under the gate post some pics

I wouldn't do it, I already attempted this project, here's several reasons why, at least mine personally, didnt turn out too good.

1.) the metal didn't look very good at all considering it was hard to smooth/polish it.

2.) It looked unusual under a thing of grey plastic, the surroundings didn't mix whatsoever.

3.) getting a good cut was also very difficult, even worse to be able to sand the edges to make it look nice.

4.) mounting it, glue wasn't the best idea since it's right above the cat and there's a fair amount of heat there, screwing I didn't want to do either.

5.) Engraving numbers was difficult

Pull out the plastic, and under it, mount 6 different buttons/switches, each time you shift into a gear the shift knob will press up against a certain button. When this happens, you can have an LED light up. Make it cool sequentially too, like, 1st is light blue, 2nd blue, 3rd orange, 4th strong dark pink, 5th strong red, reverse yellow.
1, 3) i don't know what tools you used but it wouldn't be a problem cutting, drilling, smoothing edges, polishing if you used right equipment. i know not everybody has $10g machine for personal use. even with a dremel with a stand you can tilt (since the shifter will be in angle when it's in gears), this can be done without too much hassle. there could be other things that need to be considered but that's just my thought.

2) you can always color or fabricate another piece to match the silvery color of metal. i'm not exactly sure if you were talking about color but another idea would be to cut a piece of CF to be on the top of the metal peice with H/N pattern cut in it.

4) why would you glue a metal piece that has contact with amoving part-shifter?

5) same as the light indicator you mentioned. even if you drive another car for the first time, i don't think it should be a problem knowing which gear you are in. well, unless you are completely out of your mind or know how to drive.

no light indicator needed unless you've never driven a stick shift.

i'm not hating you neither am i being an asshole.
i truly respect you for actually trying unlike me planning and just quitting
but i don't find "what could be the problems" you mentioned to be problematic

there is a program called Solidworks (im sure you've heard of). easy to use, but first of all, it's MUCH cheaper than Auto CAD. i think a student edition you cant use for 2 years is like $100, but not sure

rather than turn your rep red, i'll ask you here: what's up with the negative rep? you didn't comment on it, so all i know is you disapprove of my disapproving of adding just a muffler to a bone stock honda (name of the thread is "legal muffler" i think).
