I've got an extra valve cover I'm working on now. I'm thinking gold with some green and maybe black accents. I'm taking my time sanding before and after the primer so I can get a real nice glass like finish.....hope it works well.

Lol, no but that's actually a good idea, might try that for my other VC. So many people do the Japanese Rising Sun it would be a cool twist! Lot of masking though :/

Dupli Color Engine Enamel, primer gold and clear. Then prolly just a reg. green rattle can and black rattle can if I have an extra laying around.

i am thinking more and more about doing this myself, inexpensive and looks nice...im not entirely sure what color to go with, but that decision might come to me in the store looking at the selection
how much work goes into this, aside from the actual painting? im pretty sure i have seen everybody here say that once you get things apart, you are looking at a new gasket. and thats valve cover gasket, not head gasket, right? the head stays on, just the v.c. comes off
what else do i need to know about taking things apart, or is it pretty straightforward? i have a haynes manual, so im covered there...
