Okay, this has been puzzling in my head for a while. I haven't gotten a chance to test it yet though. Lets say I put a 120psi air tank in my trunk with a a circuit that automatically turns on an air pump when the psi reaches, lets say, 50psi. A line comes from it to a regulator located next to the parking brake. Then to a electronic open/closed valve operated by a switch located on the steering wheel or any other place of convenience. From there, it is fed into the intake house very close to the engine its self. Since atmopheric pressure is at 14.7psi, you turn the regulator to around... 20 psi. When your engine reaches around 7k rpm, you hit the button. Would it have the same effect as a turbo?
I know that it wouldn't last long, but would it be like a "turbo-on-demand" thing?
Mods: SR20DET,3" exhaust from the turbo, AFC, Greddy RS B.O.V., CP pistons, greddy head gasket, nismo clutch, tie rods, springs, shocks, vlsd, etc
NO!!!!!!. psi means nothing if you understood turbos. 15 psi off of a t25 is different than 15 psi off of a gt35r. your air pump i doubt would even approach the power of a real turbo.

No, it won't have the same effect as a turbo, but it definately should provide a noticeable boost.
The Ford Lightning used a similar system where it stored cold air captured from the a/c system and when you floored it, it would dump it into the manifold.
The problem is that a compressor big enough to store a useful charge would weight enough that the performance boost might be lost due to the weight gain.
The idea of a stored compressed air charge is good, but actually implementing it would not be practical.
I rey don't mean to come off as a jerk, I mean this in the nicest way possible, but what made you think that would work, and how did you ever come up with that?

again, not hateing, just curious...
Ideas from boredom or curiousity often give way to new innovation, this one however is a bust. lol

to clarify, the reason it wouldnt work, is because of FLOW RATE, not PSI, a standard 3/8 air hose just cant flow the CFM needed to produce boost in something that is sucking in air like crazy anyways
