How 2 change a clutch on a 98 Civic? Need help.
My g/f has a 98 manual civic that needs the clutch done? I am a little unsure of how to do this so I could use some technical help. thanks.
drop the front mount, the back mount, and the side tranny mount, with the car raised, then unbolt the trwanny, it will come right out the bottom, of course dont forget the starter wires, the speedo , etc, oh yeah before you can drop the mounts yuo have to pull the axles n stuff

Unless you are quite the skilled mechanic, I would recommend just taking it somewhere (it will cost her about 400 +labor ). I replaced the transmission, clutch, and completely swapped the motor on my accord and the clutch is a freaking pain in the ass to do (unless you have a lift and are capable of lifting a transmission over your head, doing it with jackstands sucks). anyways, if you are going to do this yourself, go to your local auto parts store and pick up a haynes auto manual, it will be a huge asset.
Either or, you still will have to worry about suspension removal, clutch alignment, and trying to put the tranny back in place. I assure you, if you try to do this yourself, you would wish you took it somewhere.
doing a clutch isnt that bad...its often the first big job a backyard mechanic will attempt. check out C-Speed . they have a tutorial on the procedure that i sed my first time...made it a bit easier. Its for an integra so i would suggest finding the torque specs for ur car.
