I ripped the rubber strip out of my rear fender and used a power washer to clean the fender, I also took the wheels off. I then used rubberized under coating to seal up the place. I did'nt replace the rubber thing I took off also. I feel like it's more harm then good.

Me too. The rubber holds the dirt and salt in there.

the civics and integras have it because its hondas cheap ass way of sealing the seam. The outer skin and inner structure are just folded over each other and that rubber strip is slapped on over that lip. If you took it off and looked between the two pieces of sheetmetal there is a small strip of cloth sealer between them under the rubber. Its actually really hard to see, unless you do body work and had the panels apart.
Just a cheap ass bandaid, and thats why its so problematic, its suppose to keep crap out of that joint, but it dosent work that way.
