Can I run on alcohol

My owners manual states that alcohol will damage my fuel system. I was wondering if there is anyway to convert a honda engine to alcohol.

I have a 96 honda civic dx hatchback and a 03 oddessey EX

Thank you

Uhh....why exactly?

If your engine was built in such a way that it would REQUIRE race fuel / alcohol to run, then yea...

Or, if you decided to run a Water / Methanol injection setup with a turbo build...

I am just interested in alternative fuels. Could you explain a little more on what a water / methanol injection setup is? Does it require or work with a turbo charger?

The easiest answer is that water/methanol injection greatly improves the safety of running high compression with high boost (while the cardinal rule is to keep compression as low as you can with boost).

For instance, the aircraft I work with in my job use water/meth injection during takeoff with our turboprops to increase the power output.

Read up on some articles online on water/meth. But it's not an alternative fuel, it's an additive.

If you want alternative fuel, you'd have to put in a diesel, and use vegetable oil lol. Only reason to use alcohol is because the engine is so highly built and tuned, that it won't run on regular gas.

I am curious though. Would it be possible to use water/methanol to run my car on just alcohol, no gasoline?

The answer is no.
Running your stock car on alcohol is not safe.
That's why it says don't use alcohol in your owners manual.

You should give E85 a try though. Wish we had some in WA. I would be running my stock B16 turbo on that thing. Try it, keep record and data. Once your motor blows up report asap to superhonda forums on how long it lasted, positive/negative effects. After all d series motors are dirt cheap these days.

Was it really necessary to treat me like such an idiot. I assumed that the folks here would know more than me about honda's. I really wanted to know if there is equipment that would allow me to run on alcohol. Forgive me for being so ignorant.

yes since you don't even know how to use the quote button on the bottom right. but seriously why do you want to run alcohol? there is not benefit to it. there is more of a point of turning your car into a diesel car if you want more power and better mpg. now that would be a nice swap into a hatchback civic Diesel – Honda Worldwide Diesel Engine Technology Site

Im pretty sure that E85 will be fine for a couple of years on a healthy honda motor, after dialing in the Air Fuel ratios with a wideband and messing around with timing. I know a couple of people running their boosted hondas on E85.

e85 is only good for high boost or built high comp n/a. other than that it's worthless. and the mpg out of it are fucking horrible

I hope that pretty soon the new generation of honda engines will be able to run on vegetable oil and still have Vtec. LOL
