General Unknowledge
Right now I have a stock Obd0 pr4 ecu (disgusting results). I installed it because the previous owner/builder of my setup was running a Hondata system on it and sold it separetly. With my mods in mind, (mods list is up to date) and no real plans as of now for a turbo, supercharger, itbs or anything like that would it be such a bad idea to just purchase or have my pr4 chipped and programmed, versus converting to obd1? Also, if the previous owner had a Hondata system installed, this would mean that at one time there was an obd1 conversion, would it not? If so, is there any way of telling what distributor is on the engine (right now)?

I'm not talking about a generic chipping job, I know that there are more apps out the for OBD1. I really don't have any plans on forced induction, (I'm pretty content with the power I have now). I was just wondering if the OBD1 would make that much of a difference performance wise than the chipped and programmed obd0 pr4 ecu.

So, what your saying is all obd0 pr4s are generic? I know that Skunk 2 offers pr4 chipped and programmed ecus, are these the "generic" that your referring to?
what i'm saying is a stock ecu, whether its obd0,1 or 2, is better than any ecu w/ a generic program. skunk2 offers a programmed ecu that works good for a skunk2 engine....but a fully programmed ecu would be exponentially better. skunk2 is not a completely generic chip since they bring out more potential from motors w/ skunk2 internals, however in the sense of your car's individual characteristics (bolt-ons, mileage, wear, etc), then it's still considered a "generic" program. jet, ebay-"mugen" etc etc are fully generic chips and should be avoided at all times.
do a search, this has been covered many times.
