Above is the Concept D from September 2000, it was a concept version of what a flagship VW sedan (the D1) *could* look like. Sources say the car will look a bit different than the above photo and the rear roofline will be changed in a more standard trunk configuration. There is a possibility that the D1 will officially be unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show this coming September. Also the production version will have an actual name on the car, D1 is the platform designation and internal name for the car.
The next Golf V should be introduced late 2003 or 2004. The Jetta will follow shortly afterwards.
