i took the car to get tranny flushed and damn what a difference, It almost feels like a new car. The problem with the 3rd gear went away:w00tz even in the cold (early in the morning). i took it to honda to get some warranty items replaced and they did the tranny for free :clappy . my car has 18000 miles and damn nice with new oil. Honda reccomends replacing the oil @ 30000 miles, but if you could do it @ around 15000 i would say change it.

There was a recall on the third gear problem in the 2007s. What kind of problem did you have with it?

just run a little gm synchromesh through it

The famous 3rd gear grind, but like I said flush it and replace it with new oil and it goes away.

3rd gear for honda's have always been the worst.

i haven't had any problems with mine. it has about 30k miles on it anyway. i've always heard honda tranny's to be tough though.

It says to use Honda Manual Transmission Fluid. Is there a substitute for that that is as good and won't mess your transmission up? I know you can substitute hypoid gear oil for it but it isn't as good.

Umm, honda manual fluid is the consistantcy of motor oil, definetly dont want gear oil in there. Honda MTF or GM synchro mesh. honda MTF>gm mesh all day though.

i believe my manual tranny requires the dreaded gear oil. at least that's what the manual says
