Hello,

Does anybody know what engines will fit into a 1980 honda civic 1500dx? The one in it currently is junk, I would like one with more power.
It is also carburated of course, so the replacement engine should also be carburated.

It is very hard to find information or specs on this car.

thanks for any help.

You might be able to fit one from the 84-87 Civic Si in there, it's 1500cc with the 12-valve head. A friend of mine has a dual-carb 87 CRX with cam, header, ignition, etc...and it's pretty fast. Trans gearing helps too though.

Just about nobody modded Hondas back then, and nobody today mods those models, but it would be cool to do...

It's a 1.5 liter also, for the 84-87 years anyways. there was a 1.6 liter starting with the 88 models but it was fuel injected. It's possible that the 84-87 Si model was also fuel injected but you can still use the head as long as you get carbs that fit the bolt pattern. Weber & Mikuni make them for sure.

Visit the guys at www.retrohonda.com, they know alot more about old school Hondas than anyone on the usual forums would.
