Alright guys, I just bougt a 1992 hond civic hatchback. I am planning on doing a swap soon. Of coarse every one is telling me that I should go h22 or b18c5 or gsr but, of coarse they arent paying fo it. I am not looking for a 13 secong car anyways. Anyways my friend is a mechaninc and says he can get me a 1995 integra ls with a dc header on it for a couple hundred bucks. Then he can rebuild it for me, were gonna hoan out the cylinders, put in some type R pistons and rings, some titanium valve springs and retainers, do a valve adjustment and some crane cams and I believe he said an si tranny all for under $2,000 installed. Does this all sound like a good idea and price. I know I will at least have a lot of torque and a good amount of hp but is it all worth it, or should I do something else? Ant idea or info?

What is it with everybody's obsession with having a type-r motor, what a waste of money in my opinion. for the money you could have a built CRVTEC. I can understand if you are going to buy the motor because it's a "type-r" motor and that's what you want. Just don't buy it because you think it's gonna be the fastest peice of crap on the entire plant.
92 civic hatch swap

First off its not a "Type R" motor. Its a 95 Integra Ls motor. The only thing that is going to be "Type R" is the pistons and piston rings. It has a lot of miles and is going to be rebuilt anyways so we were gonna throw in the pistons. But he just called me up today and said he can get me a GSR head for $350, so we can do an LS vetec. I heard that they are not that reliable. Which would be the better choice? Any helpful info would be appreciated. Thanks.
i like the built na b18b, i think that would be cool to build, and the price you listed wsa good if you ask me...

Quit telling people to use the search its not your place to tell then understand?

Ron are you going to hoan out the cylinders for more displacement or just to take out imperfections?
Well I guess were gonna hoan them out for both, since were already down there.

So is it not a good idea?
all i'm sayin is don't listen to people that say get a type-r motor, there are better ways of going about it. And an LS-VTEC can be just as reliable as any other motor as long as you do it right, that's a good choice. didn't mean to sound like a dick, sorry...
Its ok. Thanks for the inf guys. Keep it coming.
