sup everyone... I was planning on purchasing a street legal turbo kit from GReddy, but unfortunately they don't carry a kit for the 2000-2001 GS-Rs. I have two questions about this

1) Are there any other companies (HKS, Apexi) that carry street legal turbos for my car; and if so, how can I contact them?

2) Are these turbo kits damaging to a bone stock motor even though you're running at low boost (say... 5 psi)?

Thanks guys! Any input would be appreciated...

ok for 1. the only street legal kit is the one made by GReddy. and im preety sure there is no kit what so ever for your car but i may be wrong..correct me guys if im wrong. 2. If u run it a mere 5 psi, it shouldnt do any damage with stock internals, unless u hookitup wrong.

the greddy kit fits on your car with minor adjustments, i think the only problem would be the ecu?
and if you only plan on boosting 5psi, the greddy would probably be a lot better for you with its teeny turbo.
but i know drag makes kits for 94-01. it bolts in relatively easily, with a few modifications.
i have the dragIII kit on my 01 gsr and like it a lot. it's a better turbo if you plan on building up your motor and eventually running higher boost. my only beef with it is the turbo lag and it's annoyingly LOUD fuel pump. bzzzzzzzzz, god.
from what i've heard and seen you could safely boost 7-8psi on a stock motor. As long as you treat it good.
but even just 5psi puts stress on your motor, so if reliability/engine life is your main concern maybe a turbo wouldn't be great for you.
and before you go out and buy a turbo, be sure it's what you really want to do. you're once safe near-new reliable gas friendly car, is now a ticket happy, prone to random things breaking, "oh my god why is fuel spilling allover my engine", sucking all your money, "oh i wish i just would've left it stock" car. but hey thats the fun of it.

I don't think GReddy is going to have your kit out anytime soon. The 94-95 GSR kit has been TBA for like over a year now.

CARB certification is very expensive and hard to get. I don't think you are going to find another company out there that has put this much time, effort, and money into CARB ceritification as GReddy.

If you really want turbo, you will have to get another kit, or build yourself a custom setup.

Drag III and Revhard II are both very good kits. But if you don't want to boost that much you might want to look for a smaller turbo.
