Definately has potential...just depends on what they want to do with it power wise. Thay need to read the stickies and start learning.
it has good potential. the only difference between the dx and ex motors are the head.....a minime will solve that. but the tranny in the ex has shorter gearing....though it hasn't mattered when i've raced other civics.

a slightly less expensive option(or so it seems) would be to do a y8 intake manifold swap, then turbo the it from there. that way you can buy kits for the ex. since thats the only difference in the kits is the intake manifold. the only thing about keeping the y7 head is that no one makes a cam for it. you have to get it custom ground.
If it's a manual and a hatchback, the first thing I would do is swap to an EX transmission. The shorter gearing makes a huge difference. If it's coupe the transmission would still make a difference, but not nearly as much.

In short, yes it has potential. But don't start adding an exhaust or huge wheels or any other stupid crap. Tell your friend to do some research before he does anything.

i would have two sets of tires up there.....one set on stock rims and the other on summer rims but thats just me. get econo tires for the winter, whichever they recommend for all-season
Please be sure to consult the forum stickies and also the review forum.
