2003 Civic Si being released?-Disappointed with Honda(long)

Seeing how sales are so poor for the 02 model and dealerships have 02's collecting dust, I was wondering if the 03's are even going to be made again in the Ohio plant. It seems to me that the 02 Si has been a total disaster in comparence with the 99-00 Si's which sold like hot cakes. I thought the new Si would grow on me and my friends, but it hasn't and will never. The car is simply a bust. When I am out on the road with a friend or family member and i point out a new Si, they are literally disgusted with its looks. I'm very disappointed with Honda for several reasons, as they have dropped the ball in the import scene. Nissan saw the opportunity and ran with it. Honda lost and looks to be doing nothing in the near future to gain any ground on Nissan. I was planning on buying a S2000 when I traded in my 99 Si, but changed my mind because of the crap I have dealt with at the Honda dealerships when going to have my car serviced. I considered a Acura CL, but in all reality, that car is an accord. Honda makes some good products, but they do not stand behing their products and are failing miserably to make further advancements in the import scene. I went from a balls out Honda fan who said he would always buy Hondas and Acuras to someone who might never purchase a Honda product again. I was a member of this board for over 3 years and know many people share these feelings with me, as well on other import discussion boards. Sorry for taking so much time, but Honda needs a good kick in the ass. Thanks for listening. Jeff

Honda tried with the si to give people a good deal price wise. And the cl is not an accord. And give the si a chance I seen it Kick the older si's ass. They respond well to bolt ons.And the old si looked good but realy isn't that fast. Wait till more parts become available the we will see whats up.And this is a new engine so its still building a reputation. The new si is just waiting to be hooked up unlike the svt focus and the sentra se-r you have to pay for parts you will most likly replace. And honda's not only concerned about the import scene. My brother got out of the scene and bought a 2002 accord because they build reliable cars. And if you don't purcase a honda or acura again sucks for you.

Okay, that's just bullshit. its like me saying "I'm was going to buy a ferrari, but the service was bad so I changed my mind"

If you were going to get an s2k, nothing can stop you. The service of Honda does not ride along with you when you're driving an S2k. jeez.. and a CL is far from an Accord..
A cl will rape an accord. Those things have like 260 hp. The only thing wrong with it is its fwd

Buying a S2K from a Honda dealership is like buying Armani from K-mart, it just doesn't happen. While it may be a great product, the service is a mess in the U.S. at Honda dealers. The dealerships are filled with people with a lack of knowledge about their products. Go into a BMW dealership and see how differently you are treated and how knowledgeable the people that work there are about their products. The CL and the accord have so many similarities, its sick. If any of you guys ever looked on a S2000 board, you would laugh at how much trouble those cars have and how the owners are treated when they bring their cars to the dealerships with problems.
I also never bashed Honda for the performance of the new Si, while weak, its respectable. I was bashing the looks. If i wanted a ford focus, i would go to a ford dealership, not a Honda dealership. You guys need to wake up and realize Honda is a great products for what it is, but there are much better products out there with more to offer. A Honda is a car you have when your 17-25, then you move on. Only age will teach you this lesson.

No one answered my question. Is the 03 model of the focus, i mean Si going to be produced in the Ohio Plant?

haha
i dun know why ya'll bein disappointed at the new Si, but i test drove one at honda dealer back on august, and i think it kicks ass. the car got both top-end n bottom-end power, and pulls very much harder than the old si. the new on-dash shifter allows driver to shift quicker than older si shifter. before i used to feel the same about the new si, a 2.0l ivtec only produces 160hp at the crank? sounds weak for a 2.0, but again like i said, test drive it, and i think u'll have a new perspective about it. ;)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought 02-Up Si's were being built in England.

The new Si has grown on me. Lowered and on rims, I don't think it looks too bad. Performance wise, I think it's rather respectable.

In my experience, ALL dealerships suck. I've had many experiences with dealerships that I literally had to BEG them to cover a part under the factory warranty. And I've had friends tell me of similar experiences at other dealerships. It's amazing, auto manufacturers brag about their warranties so much, but when you need their help, you have to plead and beg your case.

I agree with you 100%. It is like Chris Farley says in Tommy Boy about a warranty/guarantee. "I can take a dump in a box and put a guaranteed sticker on it, i got extra time". Bringing my car to Honda for warranty work was always such an ordeal. I had to bring the car in 2-3 times for each problem before I was able to talk them into fixing the car. What kind of service is that? I wonder how Kia's 10 year warranty's are, lol. If they are fixing cars like they should be for free, that company is going to go broke in no time. There was a toyota dealership that was giving free life time oil changes as long as you own the car when you bought a Toyota. The dealership is still feeling the wrath of that decision. They have people coming for 12 years, 4 times a year like clockwork. While the oil may be cheap, the wrench time isn't. There may be no such thing as a good dealership. I know there is no such thing as a good body shop.

I have had only great experiences at my local Honda dealership. Any problem I had with my Si, was fixed no questions asked. Now I know all dealerships are not the same, but I'm very happy. Sure a BMW dealership is going to be better overall, but look at how much your paying for the great service. Honda/Acuras are great cars, but they are still not as high scale as BMW so you really can't compare them it that sense.

As far as the new Si is concerned, over all, its a neat car. I personally don't car for its looks, but it does have a lot to offer. I had the opportunity to test drive one, and it does ride nice. It would be a lie to say that it is faster then the 99-00's though. It does have more torque, but just doesn't seem to get up and go like my Si does.

As far as the CL and Accord are concerned, they are built on similar bodylines, and share many of the same parts. Just wait for the new Accord coupe to come out. I believe it is 240HP matched up with a 6-speed tranny. However, for the price, I would go with the more upscale CL.

"Man Honda, you used to be cool" (What Bart Would Say) I'll just stick with my 99 SI till they come out with some thing worth wile. I think the looks aren't too bad, I kind of like them, and a real Buddy Club kit looks good on them. The performance is deplorable, especialy since they have a larger motor that produces the same HP in a hevyer car. How did Nissan pick up the Ball? SE-Rs are gay little 4 door family cars and every one I see driving them thinks they are the fastest and drive like ricer ass idiots. The 350Z is tight but it cost too damn much. I think the Japanese auto makers have droped the ball all together. Granted they might have one or two nice cars, but they are just trying to sell watered down family cars. Mazda's Comericals say "Zoom, Zoom" but yet they have nothing but slow ass cars in America, I think the RX8 should help them out a little if they ever release it.

I think the new Si was a flop because people realized that for $5 more, they could get an RSX. :D

Psssst..... I'm 26. Shhhhhh, don't tell anyone! ;)

I am happy with my 00 Si. If I do ever let her go, the first place I will look for a car is at Honda/Acura. I have been really happy with their cars. Reliability is awsome and there are tons and tons of parts out there for Hondas. If you take care of your car, your car will take care of you.

As far as the new 02 Si goes, I agree that Honda should have done more. At the very least they could have made it weigh less than the 00 coupe, afterall aren't hatchbacks supposed to be light?? But hey if someone likes the new Si, then good for that person. What matters is that the person is happy, right?
I agree with most here...It was never a consideration on my part to get another Si....simply because it was not no where's near as nice looking as the'00....or even as good......and for a couple of bucks more I ended buying a car that if you wait around will be the one to watch.....
There are more mods for the RSX-S than I think for the Si... that tells me something .........I'm not flaming .....just the facts......
I've had nothing but good experiences at my honda dealership. I had my car for two days before the tranny started going bad (i'm sure the guy who owned my car before me raced it) and with my extended warranty they installed a brand spanking new tranny for me for free. They even helped me install my headers when i snapped one of the bolts taking my old maifold off! Honda makes me happy!
My problem with the 02 Si... It looks too much like a Focus, especially in the front grill. It would look cooler if it had a grill more like the 2000S.

What was Honda thinking?

I love my car alot. But, when it comes time to buy a new car... RX8. The future.

The Rx-8 looks cool and promises performance. Rumor has it if the RX-8 sells enough, a RX-7 will soon follow! I hope so. I see all the big power Japanese cars coming back. I want a SUPRA, Toyota, are you listening?
I work at a honda dealership and we have been getting in the other 2003 civics but i havent seen a 2003 yet.....and another thing.....there are ways to make the new Si look better...and it is still quick....it has more torque than the EK si but it weighs more than the it too, but listen all the new Si needs is a front lip, some better looking rims, and it needs to be lowered...end of story...i mean look at the new CTR it still is kinda ugly but hell 210hp, and with some little things here and there it can look pretty good. Oh also..the new accord coupe has 240hp and is a beast when u get on it, but im still waiting for the 6speed that is coming out...that will have sport suspension and 17in rims plus HIDs.....yeah thats about it..

Oh before u dis something, find out what is all about
