I use to shift at redline but I felt a power loss.. then I started shifting around 5400 and I felt a better gain since the power loss is a little around there. I shifted at redline today and I felt like I was gaining lol. Hmm, should I keep shifting at 5400 or redline?

Redline, b/c if i do not look at the tach when i am paying attention to who i am racing i make power all the way to fuel cutoff, i have bounced off it a couple of times on accident doing that. She pulls all the way!

just because the engine whines like a baby taken away from his moms pretty wet nipple when extremely hungry, doesnt mean its making power. if you know much about the h23, it doesnt make much past 6k. in the 1/4, the best times are achieved by shifting right before or at 6k. go to a dyno and look at your graph :vpleased:

But just looking at dyno sheets won't tell u shit. Sure power drops off towards the end and sure the most power is where u said it is but u gotta think bout the tranny ratios and etc. Like I said come race me, shift at 6k and i'll go to redline, let see who wins? I'll bet my car on it.

yeah..ill come up and race you...

do you ever go to the track? there used to be a guy on here named blackmagic...he ran a 15.6 with a bone stock H23 by shifting at 6k rpms. dont you think that run after run after run by a pro level driver would tell you what the best way to drive an H23 is?

OK well if that doesnt convince you think or torque...not hp. the torque on the h23 peaks at like 4800rpm correct? when i shift at about 6k, i dont even drop down below 5k i dont think? if you are shifting at about 6500 you are too high in the torque curve when you shift, which will also not help in acceleration. kind of confusing but you should get the main idea. basically....HP isnt everything.

Ok so what do you run in the 1/4? cuz 15.09 stock is badass. You better really know your shit or have some serious mods to be puttin down this guy.

nice analogy,LOL! all dyno sheet is going to tell you is what you eak tq and hp are along where they are located, that is only going to tell you!!!!! thats it, but you ned to make the best judgement from them on where the best shift point for your car should be based on that, taking it to redline is not such a bad idea b/c you will be higher on the curves. TQ is te key in the 1320 dance. stay in your TQ curve. wish i had a dyno to see what mine looks like.

just like i said...the h23 makes peak tq at 4800 i do believe. if youre shifting at redline, you shouldnt drop to, or even that near 4800 (i guess you'd land around 5100rpm) if you can shift halfway decent. if you shift at 6k, your shift should land you right on top of those 156 nice ft-lbs of tq at 4800rpm's!! :D
