So what exactly is in the 240SX? A beefed up SR20DET?

I know the Camaro has a little more than just a 200 shot. You can hear its exaust.

head and cam ls1 maybe?

and i think the 240 was top secret's 180sx or something...i saw it on another board.

I doubt it had heads and cam and the 200 shot.
Maybe heads cam and a smaller shot of nitrous.

But considering LS1's come stock with about 340bhp, and full exaust would give it roughly 360bhp, and figure in other basic mods to give it 380hp and with the 200 shot that would be at 580bhp.
3400lb LS1 = 5.8lb/hp
2700lb 240 = 5.4lb/hp

So the LS1 may have a few more mods, or just better highway gear ratios...

OK...since nobody has a clue about these cars, I'll clear things up...here is a basic run down.

240SX has a stock bottom end SR20 with 539whp(U.S. record).

LS1 has heads, cam, 2 stage 200shot, 4.11 gears, and of course the usual bolt-ons.

Very good race, pretty even match and both cars are from Tampa area, 240SX started to make up the ground he lost right off the bat in the top end but, that's the trade off between a sprayed V8 and a turbo 4.

BTW, in case you didn't notice Secret Services is the shop who is responsible for the car, the owner Scott works there and he built, funded and tuned the car himself.

Oh wow...539rwhp! I was guessing the origionally posted 500hp was a guestimate, and at the crank as well.

That pretty impressive for a stock bottom end.
How much boost is he pushing? What kind of gas is he running?

Stock bottom-end SR20, 26psi on 106 octane leaded race gas.

Very impressive.

BTW: What is the stock revlimiter set to on an SR20? I was looking at how much higher the hp went than the torque, then noticed they took it to 7600rpm!

Also looks like a very peaky torque curve. A lot like my KA24E feels like.
In my Z I can hit the gas from 3 grand on and its instant power. In the 240 it has to get above 4500 before it really starts pulling much.

Here are some specs on the S13 SR20DET which is what he has...stock the revlimiter for the S13 is 7500rpm, he is running a Haltech E-11 so...it doesn't much matter. Also, the reason for the low torwque number compared to the HP is because he has a very BIG turbo, which is needed to make that kind of power. SR20DET's with a smaller turbo can usually put out equal HP and torque numbers, a 300hp and 300 torque is not uncommon.



Displacement: 1998cc (2.0 liter)

Cam type: DOHC 16 valve, chain driven cam sprockets

Bore and stroke: 86mm x 86mm

Compression: 8.5 : 1

Horsepower: 205hp at 6000rpm

Torque: 203 ft/lbs at 4000rpm

Stock boost: 7 psi

Throttle body bore: 60mm

Turbo specs: Compressor: T-25, 60 trim 56mm BCI-1 compressor.

Turbine: T-25, 62 trim 53.8mm 0.64 A/R turbine housing

Injector size: 370cc/min
