I have a 1996 honda accord lx 4door (130hp stock)with basic mods...aem short ram...dtm exhaust...ngk plugs wires...17" nippon rims...etc...the only bad thing is that its an automatic. However I use that for my advantage when racing... I hold my gas and brake down at the same time in 1st gear...taking it to about 2K rpm...then i let go of the brake and my car takes off pritty good...in first i beat out a bunch of integras and preludes...etc. So of course i red line it drop it in 2nd and then D3. So i have pritty much mastered the art of racing with an auto...NOW FOR MY PROB. I'm racing this kid with a 1999 Honda Civic Si... (160hp stocK) and hes got intake and exhaust also... and i really wanna win...so i was thinking about ohhhh lets say a 75shot of zex or something....Im pritty sure i can take him in 1st because he will peel out while my never fail method will leave him a whole car lenght behind...in 2nd gear i suppose it will be neck and neck and in 3rd gear I expect him to blow me away...so i thought about shooting the nos in 3rd... i never used nos before...i dont even have the zex kit...and im just looking for advice...does anyone think i can take him...does anyone have any advice for me....and most of all does anyone have a zex kit for sale? thanks

u should be able to take him with a 75 shot... juss leave yer car in D3 n don't do the 1-2--d3-d4 thing... n yeah brake tourque at the beggining like u do.. use nitrous right after u launch and past 3,000 rpms... n use it till the end

Hey why do you say not to use the 1 2 D3 thing i do? It seems to work better this way because i can red line...with just d3 the car can shift whenever it wants... I was thinking to do the brake thing than do my 1 and 2 thing and then right when i change from 2 to d3 to shoot the niturous.

Because when you use Nitrous yer RPMS will jump drasticaly ... n using nitrous right at the start will get u a better time then using it after 1-2-d3 (why upshift if u can spray right at the beggining?) ... soon as u hit nitrous u will be riding redline the whole time........ nwhat u think is faster... ride on 1... redlien shift to 2.. ride on 2.... redline shift to 3 then spray... or Spray right of the bat?....

just because you are shifting at redline doesn't mean that the best place to, take a look at dyno graphs sometime and you will see that at some point in the powerband of your car you actually lose power at higher rpms. It is not a good idea to wait to use the nitrous until say 3rd, whenever possible you should always start with nitrous and only use as long as neccesary (I learned that the hard way). Also not trying to dog on you cause I'm sure your car looks good, but if you want to be serious about winning the race lose the 17's and throw some stock wheels and tires on that bad boy, good luck!

Thanks Guys your advice is excellent... The whole Starting in D3 now makes sense... my only concern is that my transmission will not be able to do its shifting fast enough with nos. I mean if i have it in d3 and then floor it...im afraid that the nos will ask the car to shift gears so fast that my trans. would just say "nope" and then die on me. ...Also thanks for the advice about the rims. I will definatly not show up at the race in those heavy rims. YOU GUYS ARE GREAT!

i fucked up my tranny.. n when i spray right in my car goes past redline and keeps hittin rev limiter (very bad) pretty much like u mentioned bout tranny not shiftting gears ... i sujjest rebuilding yer Auto ... i didnt ... nitrous fucked my tanny up hehe .. but im gettin my level ten rebuild soon

All yall are damn rite but the thing is not in the beggining or the 3rd shift or nothing like that .....nitrous is pretty gud but expensive to replace go for sumtin betta bro . try and get a msd ignition on that baby and a real big coil that will push your car to the max on acceleration and rite when u get to the third gear try to blast him with the nitrous all that u got and it ll be shure that will push your car top speed on aprox 20 sec and normaly takes a min to get to top speed so gud luck bro........... :D

You can solve this problem by trading your car in for a manual. Manual>auto. Just hope your engine and trans can handle that type of boost. Becareful nitrous can be a dangerous thing. :D

Don't assume the civic si will just peel out. If he's got high dollar tires or dot drag radials and knows what he's doing he will beat you off the line period!
