my and my friend were at the other day in his JDM Civic Si (b18C5 (yes the type r integra engine) engine, intake, catback ex, programmable ecu, etc...) he put in about $20 000 into the car totally, another guy whom i know, owns an older WV GTI but with a WV Sirracco 16v engine and has only about $3000 under the hood (mainly used parts from scrap yards except for the intake, rims, brakes & suspension)

he smoked us !
I was like WTF!!!

im still in a 'Duh' as to how he beat us

those cars can get really fast. A buddy and myself were at a stop light one day and up ahead of use there was a VW GTI and a Prelude sitting next to him. Started revvin on each other and out of the line the GTI just ate him up. It was pretty sad.
Yea, there fast as shit off the line. I heard they have no top end though
i dunno about the gti's, but the 1.8t i raced had more top end then my gtp. i had 1 length at the 1/8 and he beat me at the 1/4 by about 1/2 a length
though i've driven his gti and it is fast... im still confused as to how... like, his gti was only about 150 ponies and my buds civic is 195 ponies if it was stock!

thats actually true, i was drivin his Scirocco (done up as well) on the highway, and it kinda started to limit itself at about 190 km/h (note: legal limit is 100km/k on the highways here in canada and no, i didnt get caught)

VWs just have an ass-load of torque. Hondas don't.
his motor could be stock but if he ups the boost which i believe tuned those things can handle 12 psi then a type-r wouldnt stand a chance
You guys need to re-read OptiX's first post. His friend has a WV GTI but with a WV Scirocco 16v engine, not one of the newer GTIs with the 1.8T.

The Scirocco 16v engine is 1.8L and around 130 hp. It is very possible that this engine with some basic bolt-ons in a MK2 GTI (guessing as year was not specified) would beat a Civic with a B18C5 (as OptiX has found out). That engine is the VW version of the B18B. It responds well to bolt-ons and there is a huge aftermarket of parts available for it.
VW's

I 'm from holland and I live just 20 minutes from germany.}

I drive a 4th gen Civic SiR and over here we have lots of MK2 golf gti 16v and corrado G60 and vr6 over here we have mk2 golf G60 rally ( these are4wd G60's )
I like those cars but I'm faster than most of them
My 1/4 mile is 14.23 with 70 shot of NOS @ 103 mph on streettires

I can even whoop some stock vr6 if I run without nitrous I hit 14.9 on streettires , i/e/h, FPR and a ACT 4 puc & heavyduty pressure plate
