i have a 91 accord and my airconditioner doesn't work. do i just need to recharge it or can i convert it with the stuff they sell at advance auto. also, how can i get my car running nice and smooth and quiet. it has 240,000 miles but my cousins has almost 300,000 and his runs nice. i am still fixing mine but i want it in the best running condition. any tips please.

My brother worked for an AC place for a while. I asked him once about the stuff at Wal-Mart that you can buy. It seems that this stuff is only good for temporary fixes...but it may not even be good for that, depending on your problem. With AC systems, you need to monitor both the high and low pressure sides of the system. When you buy the Wal-Mart can with the one gauge, you're only monitoring the low side. This can be misleading and you can overcharge the system, leading to blown seals. Take it to an AC shop and get it tuned up, if you want a quality job. FYI.
