Hey wassup everyone, i just got my aem cai a few days ago. I was just wondering how everyone that has one installed theirs. It says you have to put your car on jack stands..but i dont have any, so is there another way to do this? can i just jack up the left side? Do i have to remove the bumper or anything? Please give me some info. so i can do this right. Thanks a lot.

it's really easy....with the CAI you gotta remove the resonator...that big black box thingie....now remove the lining inside your wheel well to gain access to the place the filter will be placed...you might have to crawl under your car and unbolt a few things...but you'll see it once you know which one u need to remove.....then just put the intake in...u might need to widen the hole...

yea the splash gaurd needs to be unbolted and pulled down...its black and found under the left side of the car where the intake hole goes down into the bumper....you also need to widen the hole. The old intake resonator is tricky to remove...i suggest looking where to find the three bolts to remove the resonator here.

Look around this page and you will find a write up on how to install an aftermarket intake system.

Alot of people cut the hole with a dremel to open it wider. I didn't do that because it leaves a ruff edge. I just took some plyiers and bent the metal so the edges are rounded. I also took some rubber hosing and lined the opening so it doesnt scratch the CAI and rattle when I'm driving. It turned out to be a very clean job, I think.

i used a dremel

you can also just jack up the right side of the car and take off the right front wheel. thats how i got access to that mess of crap resonator

the resonator to remove for me was easy...I located all the bolts and un did them...to get the bolt by that you can see form the side marker you need to put your hand under the bumper and get it from under there.

lol hard to have patience when u cant even get to the bolt man
i remember that bolt...i nearly went insane getting to it. but i finally did (after finding the poor fucker first). once i got that it came out easily. I bent the butterfly valve that opens up that second plenum to let more air in at higher revs tho. don't forget to stick somethin in that vacuum line, i used a golf tee. Oh as for the fate of that bolt...stuck that bastard in the potato gun and sent it off to never be found again.

LOL, i sure do remember that resonator bolt!! That little damn thing!! I hate little bolts hidden in places where theres no way to reach it without having to remove extra parts.

BTW about widening the hole, i used dremel with cut off wheel, and after that i used dremel again to smoothen the edges. now its nice and smooth!:) and looking good.
