did i ever mention you can get the whole thing for 700 from a junkyard?babzy said:Hi,I have the complete system for sale, passenger, driver, modules etc.If you are interested i can talk you through the install.
$1200 us.
yes it's true once an airbag pops it useless for another time. however a lot of cars in junkyards have rollover damage or something similar, so the front end is in good shape, meaning the airbags didn't go off. airbags from junkyards work as well as brand new onces, the only difference is the $1300 price difference. why would your insurance lower your rate if you disconnect your airbags? airbags could be the difference between getting a few bruises and splitting your skull in half on the steering wheel. even though seat belts do help, they don't prevent you from hitting the wheel or dashboard. hitting the wheel with your face at 60 mph is no fun.OZ#227 said:Ha HA - getting one from the Junkyard. Isn't that a bit like the add for a parachute.

I'm thinking about disconecting the drivers side air bag so I get the reduction in my insurance. It's because Air bags in Australia don't really do anything, because we all wear seatbelts - ALWAYS.
Once an airbag goes off, it cost heaps to either get another one or have it repacked, as well as repair any damage from the detenation of the airbag. Therefore my insurance would be a little cheaper without it.

at 60 mph a seatbelt will not prevent you from hitting your face on the steering wheel, even if you have a seatbelt. i would never disconnect my airbags, but maybe that's just me. another thing; the stories about little kids getting killed by airabags are nothing new. it's simple enough: little kids are too fraile to be hit by a 200 mph airbag and survive.OZ#227 said:Yeah I know, I was just joking about the parachute....
Well, We've had air-bags long enought for the studies to come out. The result was they don't do much for us in australia. Air bags have hurt just as many people as they have saved. Even killed a couple of people ( one was kid on someone's lap).
If your in a bad enought accident the your head hits the wheel while being in a Tri-point retractable seat belt. You'll need more than an airbag to save you from a few brusies at 60mph. But your right..... it's just that alot of insurance claims have come through for air bag going off, and that's after only a small hit in the front. The air bag was the single biggest cost of the repair.
That's why I could get the reduction - Low speed bump into someone, it won't cause an automatic Airbag cost blow-out.
he he..

that's what i was going to ask about but forgot to. why do they? (can you tell i've never track raced?)OZ#227 said:But they will make you remove your Air bags for the Race track. Depends on the class, I suppose. But no Air Bags in Race cars.
you wouldn't be saying that if an airbag had prevented you from hitting your face on the steering wheel going 70 mphMercutio119 said:air bags are gay just lower
