Dear Mr.Colliver:

I hope you will have time to read this memo, I purchased a 2004 Acura VIN# 19UUA66254A013516 from Ron Tonkin Acura 9655 S. W. Canyon Rd. Portland, Or. On December 30th. 2004.

I was met on the lot and from the first greeting I was impressed. You asked in your letter if “the purchase experience met my highest expectations”. The answer to that question is yes. I drive for business about 50,000 miles per year, and get a new car every two years.

I was introduced to Mr. Joel Fowler, Silver Level Sales Consultant. This was not your typical used car salesman. Joel was a professional sales person and knew the answers to every question I had. Being a Sales Engineer I had a lot of questions. He did not push me at all and made sure before we went for a test-drive that he had explained all of the safety features to me. This is the best sales person and dealership I have ever worked with.

On January 6th. At 8:30 AM I was hit by a four wheel drive pickup truck, as you can see by the attached photo my Acura was a total loss.

The reason for this memo is two parts. First is to inform you that you have a dealer that is the best run dealership I have done business with, and a sales staff that was great. I spoke with Joel while I was in the hospital and never once did he say anything about selling me another car. He was concerned about me not selling another car.

Part two is your cars, I am writing this memo because I was driving a 2004 Acura TL, and I was told by the Oregon State Police that if I was in any other car I would have been killed. After I was flown to the hospital I was informed that due to the Air Bags and all of the safety features of the Acura are the reasons I survived.

I was I the hospital for six days, no broken bones no internal injuries; I was banged up but will be back to work soon.

Please keep-making cars with all the safety features and please keep improving them. Will I buy another car? YES, and it will be an Acura, and I will buy it from Joel at Ron Tonkin Acura.

A TL is much cheaper than a 3/5 series that is comperitavely priced(sp?)

Plus I would like to see what a caddy/mecury/lincoln would have looked like and if it's driver would be as well off as this guy.

look at the first pix...the TL is heavily damaged...but yet, the pickup truch just fucked up the fender... :eek

Not exactly sure if that truck was the one involved, but the damage shows that the energy of the collision was dispersed throughout the car, not the passengers.

I'd rather mess up my car than mess up my body.

Caddy = Same result = any midlevel lux and above car with all around air bags and a decent structure (Lexus, BMW, MB, hell I bet the 300 would have faired quite well).

One reason the guy made it out olk is the size of the car. The TL is a midsize car. Try that in a in a Civic and the result would be much different. I don't like really small cars for this reason, not enough structure.
