haha thats true, like 4-5 thousand for like 65 wheel HP is a bit too much to charge
Think about this, though: for the money, you also get a fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, electronic signal modifier (for the MAP sensor, so the ECU doesn't throw a code), AND a cold-air intake.

And it is from Comptech, which has a good rep.

for 4-5 grand u can get a WAY FASTER turbo kit....
Try about 10 grand for a 1 of turbo setup.

We don't have pre-built turbo kits for our cars.

Ask l.i. Accord how much its costing him to get a turbo setup done correctly.

Sure, maybe you could get some shop to throw together a P.O.S. turbo on your car that runs like crap, and blows a head gasket 10k miles later.

Not if they're both set for the same max boost.

I still think turboing an automatic rather than supercharging it is nuts.

These s/c and t/c companies got it all wrong these days. All import cars that they are created for only add like 50% boost, frankly thats crap. You look at american cars and the s/c and the occasional turbo for them is known to add from 65% for 1500 bucks to a 200% boost with only a 5 point compression raise(4,000 bucks). Thats why you never see an import car except MAYBE a supra with more than 1200 horsepower and 1400 ft-lb's of torque

Another problem with forced induction is that a lot of it is done aftermarket. There is no better forced-induction engine than an engine that comes that way from the factory! Aftermarket F/I setups are certainly *possible* (hell, I'm almost certain I will supercharge my Accord), but nothing beats a car where the forced-induction engine setup has millions of dollars of R&D behind it (like a WRX or a Lightning). That means that:

A) It's fully under warranty;
B) The ECU is actually optimized for the blower so you don't need a piggyback or replacement ECU;
C) It was developed by engineers who had a year or two to run the setup in as many different configurations as they wanted, and had leeway to blow up as many engines and transmissions as they wanted in order to figure out reasonable limits.
