I would get the the RM no doubt. but there's a considerable difference in tone/sound.
Speaking of exhausts, why am I having such a hard time finding one for a 97 Civic EX sedan? I see nothing but 96-00 Civic coupe... :(

Because.....
coupes are better than sedans! Haha.... ;)
Your having trouble because sedans are tricker when it comes to exhaust, your going to have to most likely buy the coupe exhaust, get your pipes measured and have a extention made, In my case I knew a lot of people so I got help with fitment and what not, what I had to do was to go with a whole new system, I had to get the new headers as well so that the piping would reach farther under the car than the stock headers, Instead of buying an extension or having one made along with the new cat i just bought a straight pipe, this worked and fit perfectly. The sedans are jsut longer so you have to worry about the length of everything, even after all this, my exhaust is hidden, perfect fit under the stock rear fender and you have to look to see it, i think it's bad ass, if you need more help about specifice then tell me exactly what car you have and what exhaust your looking into, then I can call a friend up of mine and he can tell me what you need to get it to work. Check out my pics of the install me and my friends did.

mycivic131, thanks a bunch for the info. I had no idea why most companies don't make exhausts for sedans, but I guess the length is a pretty good reason.

I like the way your exhaust looks!! I'd love to get the same results, so the tip of the exhaust just reaches the end of the bumper, rather than sticking out half a foot and being an eyesore.

At the moment, I'm not in the market for an exhaust. I just ordered an AEM CAI which should be here in a few days, and I'm currently saving for headers. You have DC 4-2-1's, yes? I hear 4-2-1's are better for low end power, and that's what I want, more low end. Are yours one piece or two piece? Are you satisfied with them? I was looking into DC 4-2-1's myself, so any help would be appreciated :D

Yeah I went with the 4-2-1 for the main reason that I had an auto instead of a stick, this automatic thing is really starting to bite me in the ass, my whole engine idea were screwed because of it, anywho back to the point. It's a one piece. make sure to get a one piece, two piece suck, you lose power with that. I love the headers, I feel a nice boost with them right around 3000 rpms, my needle tends to jump real high around there and I sometimes start spinning the wheels, so for my LX of course it works and makes a difference, that's the best about it. The only problem I ran into with the DC sports header was that the O2 sensor was at the bottom of the pipe and I didn't think it would reach with tht bottom sensor in the car so I never hooked it back up, I plugged it in to fill the hole, but it's not hooked so now I have my engine light on constantly and am losing gas mileage becvause of this, but I don't have time to get my car on a lift anytime soon to fix it. Although I've asked around and people told me that with a little playing around it should reach, I guess I was just lazy. I get such a nice tone with my Skunk2 Racing exhaust and OBX straight pipe, well good luck and if there are more questions, feel free to ask. Yeah I love the hidden look to! I saw this hilarious ponitiac grand am driving around in the city with exhaust pipes sticking out like 3", I had to pull over because I couldn't stop loaughing, I was afraid I'd hit someone if I kept going. Good luck

Alright, I'll make sure to go with a one piece. Two more quick questions and then I'm done :D

- Did you install your headers yourself, or have them professionally installed? If you did it yourself, how was it in terms of difficulty and time?

- Are there any performance-related benefits to stainless steel versus ceramic? I think your ceramic headers matched the engine nicely, and I have the same engine block, so I think ceramic would look good. I'd like to save the $100 or so, as long as stainless steel doesn't perform better or anything like that...

Ok, the install I did myself with the help of my friend Ken (props to him) who works at a tire place, so a lift was readily avaiable. This IS A BIG HELP! He runs a 92' Civic Hatch, so nice! lol and who the install is easy, just lots of unbolting and bolting back on, nothing to dificult, your also better off with air tools! ONCE AGAIN I STRONGLY URGE YOU TO FIND A FRIEND THAT WORKS AT A PLACE WITH A LIFT AND AIR TOOLS, makes it so much easier. If you got these to access then it should only take you like and hour hour and a half, if you have to get under the car, with regular wrenches and what not then your looking at a long long job. The only pain we had was with the heat shield on the headers at first, some bolts are hard to reach to, but you'll figure it out.

As for ceramic or stainless steel, go ceramic, i really didn't notice how it matched till you mentioned it, neato, but the stainless has no real improvement over the ceramic. Stainless stell is more heat resistant so it won't be as hot under there, but the stainl steel tends to change color and loose it's shine after awhile to the point where it looks grose because of rust. The ceramic is more rust proof and cheaper. GO with the ceramic 1 piece, you'll be happy.

sedan = family car = non performance... thats why its harder to find parts for sedans over coupes... i mean you dont see mothers driving an accord coupe do you? no you see them drive an accord sedan :D but i aint hatin on sedans.. they can be cool as well

I agree that sedans are considered non-performance, but I don't think the benefits of a coupe are too noticable. I have an auto, too, so that's another negative :( But I like it :) My mom has an Accord sedan, btw :laff:
i was pissed a week after I bought my car becasue I realised that I could have bought the coupe, but that's ok I got what I got, wasn't sure what I was thinking the day I bought it, but's it's cool. I am more than happy working with what I got, and I like my car, I get very good gas mielage with the LX sedan, also my car will be a great sleeper, can't wait till the summer when I swap my stock P.O.S. engine for a GSR. You just have to be happy with what ya got, and I just want to see I far I can go with what I got, eventually I plan on buying a 95' hatch because I just love that car, I need to get one, then I'll have just as much fun
I hear you on that one, man. I went into the dealership knowing zero about cars, so I went with an automatic Civic EX sedan... a week later, I learn I should've gone with a manual civic EX coupe :p But yeah, it's your decision you gotta live with, and I'm way more than satisfied with the car regardless. So, either way, it's a win win situation.. :)
Hey mycivic131 you left your O2 sensor unhooked! Dude that is super important. It measures the amount of oxyen in your exhaust and tells the Ecu how much gas your engine needs for optimum air/fuel ratio. Your losing Hp and could mess up your engine.
yeah yeah, i know, I just haven't had time to get my car up, to hook it up, don't worry, I'll get it done, thank you for the concern though, I guess my friend didn't know everything like he thought he knew when he helped me, and I guess since it didn't seem like it would reach I didn't bother, I'm taking my car in soon for it;'s regular check up so I'll ask them to be so kind just to hook it back up
