anybody know how to do the clutch mod...

for those with the manaul transmission. the mod i'm talking about is where you fix the clutch sensor switch so you don't have to push the clutch pedal in to start the car. just keep it in neutral and turn the key.

it should be a pretty simple mod but i just can't find the how-to.

anybody know of it or tried?

i wouldnt recomend you to do that because if one day u r parked on a slope and ur using first gear and u forget about it u will get fucked up and how bad is it to press the clutch when u first start the car for half a second think about it

YOU HAVE TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL TO START.

You can do it. I saw one GS-R with auto start on his alarm. There has to be some sort of bypass because (like you said), I have to push the clutch in even if I am in neutral. I'm sure you can find something.
aight

aight cool...i figured it was possible, i guess i'll have too look harder or just buy me a Chilton's manual and see where the switch is.
look on ur clutch pedal all the way up top, there is a push switch, then behind it is a harness. disconnect that harness and jump the wire between it and ur done. make sure to tape it up good otherwise it will come out and u wont be able to start ur car period.

late

Actually, you don't..

Some guy was telling me a story about how he put autostart in one of his old cars, and he was showing it to his friend.. The car was in gear, and parked in his garage.. He hit the start button and it bucked and hit the wall, and the autostart has some sort of feature that if something goes wrong and the car doesn't start, it automatically retries in like 30 seconds or something.. So his car bucked into the wall a couple times..

i can second that...my boy had it on his teg the autostart from his alarm. i drove it one night and im used to putting it into 1st or R depending on how i park. so i put it in 1st after i parked the car like habit...and when we get back to leave...he hits the autostart, and it started lurching forward, and didn't stop because it keeps on starting and lurching forward...

so becarfull wiht autostart!!!

hey does it fuk up your car if u parked on a slope and leave car in gear ? especially if e-brake isnt working ? doesnt this put wear on tranny or something ?
i don't think u should let the whole weight of the car rest on just the gear...and i think it'll still roll forward. u'll def need to use the Ebrake in order for ur car not to roll anywhere.
oh sweet, thanks outxider. I'll look for that this weekend. Im not ready to put an out start in the car yet...maybe later down the road. Thanks for all your inputs tho.

no you won't. if the car is pointing downhill, put it in reverse, if its pointing uphill, put it in first.
i can start my car with out putting in the clutch, but that's something that happened from the
auto to manual swap, i actualy wish it did work correctly, my car has been started a few times while it was in gear :(

it shouldn't be that hard to put the switch in. its a little switch on the clutch pedal that just screws in, takes 30 seconds to put in. the thing is, i'm not sure if auto's have the wiring for the switch or not.

no where for it to plug into, and honestly i don't feel like bothering with it,
not worth messing with at this point

would u rest the entire weight of the car on just your gears?

right now i drive an 80's ford (until my civic is done) that the handbrake is broken on, i just put it in gear, no problem parking on slopes or anything.
