It looks hella nice and i know its gonna knock real hard but its kind of pricey. The people that has it....is it worth it?
I will second that notion. I got to toy around with one at my local shop. It is definetely a beast of a sub, but I think there is more hype than fact behind it. I also talked wth a few people at JL about the building of the sub about a year ago. This was well before everyone had heard it was coming out. I was told there would be a delay in it's release because of some problems they had wth it, but they would not go into detail. They also turned me of with the 3 ohm BS. That is obviously an attempt to market their new amps which I thought was cheesy. JL has enough hype as it is. Their products have almost gained a "newbie product" kind of reputation with some people because with of all their hype they lure in a lot of people who are new to audio and instantly think JL is the best on the planet. I have run almost everthing JL has ever made, not because of the hype, because all in all it is a good product. As for my W3s, they are decent subs, but over rated, and I will be the first to say it. I think after all the JL stuff I have run, or blown up, I can give a qualified opinion on them. As far as the W7 goes, it simply cannot and will not hold a candle to the ID MAX. The ID MAX handles more power, is cheaper, and the key here, sounds better. My advice to you if you are thinking about buying a W7, don't, save half of the money, buy an ID MAX and use the rest towards an amp. You will NOT be disappointed withthe results.i have tested them and they r not worth the money IMO.
You are one of the only people that I have found to have this opinion. Everything I have read about the W7 (none in site where I live) is that it's just short of walking on water. Personally I don't think any sub is worth $1000, and dollar for dollar, my money is on the IDMAX, but I was always under the impression that the W7 sounds better than the MAX, just not $500-700 better. Like you said, get one max then hook it up to an Arc Audio 2500 and get ready for the fun to begin.VTECnicalAccord said:

Rob, believe me, I am not the only one. I know quite a few people who have said the same as I have. It is not worth the money in my book. There is no doubt it is probably an excellent sub though, but for the money it is ridiculous. I can actually get it pretty cheap through my local JL dealer since I have bought almost all of my equipment from them, which is a dollar amount I wish I had right now as you probably figured out from ym email, LMAO. I could probably have a 12 W7 for 500 beans, but it's still more than the ID MAX. I just wish I had enough money to get started on MY new install. You are one of the only people that I have found to have this opinion.
And neither grin will compare to those horns once they are running, you will see in due time. DASHPAD!!!!!Either sub should produce a grin from ear to ear.
Well considering that I will have a max next month, that's a good thing to hear. I've run the 10 and 12 W0's and 10 and 8W1's. I have to say that my fav is the 8W1. I 've been kicking that things ass for 5 years, and it still pumps out some good bump for a small P/U truck.VTECnicalAccord said:Actually, I CAN have a freebie W7, just not a free MAX. The local JL putz deler here told me they would give me 1 or 2 12s if I wanted to let them use my car as a demo. I would have agreed if the quality of their work was better, but they really do some hack job installs, and even the nice ones they do have something half-a$$ about them. When I bought my CVA they installed it for free and I basically went back and re-did it myself because of their poor workmanship. If it were a choice of free, where both subs were sitting on a table and I could take either, I would take the MAX. Like I said, I have run almost everything they have made: 10W0s, 12W0s, 15W0, 15W4, 12W4s, 15W3, 12W3s, 12W6s, 10W6s, 8W6s, and probably others. I did have a W1 at one point but it's been so long I don't remember what it was, I am thinking it was a 12. It is just time for a change, lol. I still say the ID MAX is the better sub though.
But some people have gotten SD to pricematch caraudiocrazy.com for $305VTECnicalAccord said:SoundDomain and MatrixAudio both sell them, but for an outrageous amount. Of course, even paying what those 2 want for it, it's still cheaper than the W7. By a LOT.
I didn't now SD would match competitor's prices, but at the price they want for it they won't make many sales when everyone else has it way cheaper. But some people have gotten SD to pricematch caraudiocrazy.com for $305
But they are the only place to get one with a warranty. They will price match to only certain sites. There are a lot of little loopholes for them to deny, but I got my horns for 280 shipped - authorized, with full warranty.VTECnicalAccord said:

I'm tempted to write them and offer to do one for a few ID31's. I'm starting a side business for web development, and they are the perfect sized company to work on.VTECnicalAccord said:BTW, Image REALLY needs to update their site. It has been the same for ages. I really would like to see some more info of the ID ONE (which I WILL own). I have only seen one write-up of the ID ONE and I want MORE!!!
Rob, do they offer a warranty on dashpads too? Sorry, couldn't help myself. Just jelousy on my part of your horns. There are a lot of little loopholes for them to deny, but I got my horns for 280 shipped - authorized, with full warranty.
