Anyone interested in Type R grill?

I won an auction for a Mugen grill (replica). It looks like I will not be getting it since the guy has tooooooooooo much going on! GO ===> HERE to see what I mean!!

Anyhow, I found this grill here:

The seller is not near as busy as the one mentioned above and has plenty of positive feedback with no negatives ==> HERE

I went through his feedback checking the auctions to see how many grills he has sold for the 96-98 Civic. There were about 10 that I found. I e-mailed all the winners with this generic e-mail:

Hi, I saw that you won an auction for the Type R grill. I think it
looks sweet and just wondering how you like it? Was it an exact fit? Is
it pretty goos quality or cheaply made? Is this something the guy makes
or is it something he just gets from a place and sells? Have any pics
of it on your ride? Thanks a lot!

Jonathan

I have a 98 Civic LX and looking to change out the stock top grill.

Most of the grills these people won were this grill here:

I am more interested in the top one, but would settle for either!

If any of you are interested in one of the grills above post here! If enough of us are interested I will e-mail the guy and see what he can do for a group of us. I'm thinking $50-55 for the grill shipped!!! Maybe he'll give us a better price if enough of us go in.

I just sent the e-mails out to the people tonight so I'll keep you all posted with their replies.

Also, the guy has the grills for the 99-00 and 01+ Civic. As well as the 94-97 Accords and 98+

So, it doesn't have to be just civic owners getting in on this.

I would love one...
Wonder what that price would be in Canadian fundages.

I figured you be one of the first to post :p
If it came down to it, you could send me the money and I order 2 grills. Unless it is the same to ship to Canada  If you were to send $$ through paypal to this guy for the grill, does it automatically transfer it to US funds?

I guess I could ask the guy about your situation if we get some more people to go in. I also posted this up in the Accord forum. If 5 of us join I'll e-mail the guy.

Later!
hmm...$55 USD = 88.4872 CAD which is not too bad.
But I need a firm final price including shipping to canada before I decide.
once again, why don't you make it yourself?

Once again, I have chrome all around my $hit
I'm assuming installation is moderately simple? For $55, I'd love to get hooked up with one of those... Doesn't the bottom lip grill cost a little more? I'd like to replace both, since my stock ones are slightly faded, kinda ugly, and have a few weird burn-looking marks on them :(

Yeah, it's a pretty simple install.
I don't think there is much we can do for the bottom grill.

My top one is faded like hell. I don't understand it. I pamper my car and it's faded like $hit, but I see the piece of $hits that are dirty and not even taking care of and the grill is still black, WTF?
Ok peeps!!

Got the first reply just a minute ago. I posted it up top as well as who all is interested in this grill.

3 so far......

Could you cover the grill part with tape or something like that, and use a high quality car spray paint for a DIY job? I'm a nut about DIY  BTW, I'm interested, but not ready quite yet to make any purchases (this week's entire paycheck is getting blown on a CAI, indiglo gauges, hyper white bulbs, and rest goes to bank acct :( ) Just letting you guys know, so you all don't get pissed off at me when I "back out" and mess up the discount :p Thanks in advance for keeping us informed, though. $55 is still a pretty wicked price.

Are you referring to painting the top or bottom grill? If the top then you would just paint it b4 installing it. I will probably paint mine black since I don't have green paint to match my car.

We'll just wait until your next pay check then ;)

Nooo!! I'm not about to put a crutch on the whole thing :p You guys go ahead; I was just expressing my interest in the grill. Hopefully I'll be able to find a decent deal sometime down the road. :)

BTW, I was going through that rxgee guy's auctions on eBay, and it seems his 96-98 Civic grill looks like this:

(DUH, nevermind, image removed. I didn't read your first post close enough  )
im interested too....
hit me back
I like the first grill posted...just thought I'd mention that.
Also so this thread got bumped to the top. ;)
I sent the seller an e-mail that is posted below. He just responded which is below my e-mail. I immediatly wrote him back and he just wrote me back!!!

E-mail I sent to the seller:

Hi, I am wondering if you would consider a GROUP BUY for the grills? I
am a member of a Honda forum and I was asking if anyone would be
interested in the Type R (replica) grills. I posted this last night and
already have 4 people who are seriously interested. I imagine within a few
days there will be close to 10 or maybe even more that will want one.
Let me know if you are interested in going through with this and what
kind of prices you could give the group of us.

Thanks a lot,

Jonathan

And to make it secure I could round up the $$ from them with paypal
then send it all over to you at one time or I could send you a check. It
doesn't matter. Let us know! Thanks again!!

So far it seems to be 3 96-98 civic owners and 1 94-97 Accord owner.

E-mail response from the seller:

Hello,
Sure I can do the group buy, but would you like me to ship all of them
directly to you and you can ship them out to the individual customers
or
just ship them direct. As for price it is negotiable so let me know,
just
to let you know the accord grills are little bit more about $5 and they
come
with silver aluminum mesh except the 96-98 accords which come with a
black
aluminum mesh.
Thanks

My response to the sellers e-mail:

Hey Mitch,
Thanks for the quick response!! I would like for you
to ship them out seperately. I was saying that I
would gather up the $$ and make one large payment so
we don't have anyone backing out or not sending you
the $$. I'll let the guys know about the Accord
grills costing $5 more. I know that will be fine with
them though. I will also let them know that the 94-97
Accords are the silver aluminum mesh. For the 96-98
civic would it be possible for use to get the black
larger mesh that you have in the auctions now? Is the
mesh (for the 96-98 civic) plastic or aluminum just
painted black? I saw you have both the silver and
black for the civic, but everyone is interested in the
black so far.

I know there is one guy who is in Canada and wanted me
to ask you about shipping out of the U.S. and there is
another guy from Canada that is really interested and
I think will join if you ship to Canada.

What do you think would be a fair price w/ shipping?

I will give it until Sunday night and then contact you
Monday morning and let you know how many participants
there will be and send the money over that day! Do you
accept paypal?

Let me know so I can relay it back to the forum.

Thanks a lot!!

Jonathan

E-mail response from the seller:

Hello,
I currently have 4 grills available. 94-97 accords, 98-00 accord
coupes,
96-98 civics, and 99-00 civics. All come with the smaller silver
aluminum
mesh except for the 96-98 civics which come with the larger mesh which
is
painted black aluminum, just as pictured in my auctions. As for the
price
how does $50 for the civics and $55 for the accord grills sound? We
ship
UPS and only to physical address. As for paypal I would not be able to
accept this because each grill will have to be shipped to different
addresses, so I would need a money order or cashier's chekc
thanks
Mitch

It's looking good...shipping is the only thing worring me. I'd rather not pay a lot on shipping.

Just so i'm clear, the one we're after is this:

Correct?

Yeah, that is the one we want and will get for our civics!!!!
The mesh is aluminum though. I was hoping it was plastic, but that is still fine with me (that it's aluminum)!!!

Also, it seems we may be making payments on our own. I was going to ask you guys to send the $$ to me and I send it paypal, but he said it would not be good to send it all together with paypal since they're all going to different addresses.

I am waiting for his response to see if that includes shipping and what about to Canada?!?!?!?!?!?!

I'll keep you all posted!!!

That is $50 / $55 shipped!!! read on...

Hello,
Yes this is shipped price but in order to do this price I need about 10
comfirmed buyers that have paid because at this price $50/$55 there is
very
minimal profit on my side. As for shipping to Canada, sorry but we do
not
do any sort of international shipping. Let me know what you would like
to
do.
Thanks
