strapping that thing in and not getting it properly tuned wont do anything besides make your dash look pretty. if youre willing to spend the money itll take to get your car on the dyno so the vafc can be properly tuned, you may be able to squeeze out a few extra HP, it also depends on what you already have done to the car- you have to realize that having your vtec engagement point set to a lower rpm will NOT simply increase youre HP- theres a lot more to it than that.
Dyno Cost

How much will it cost to get my car Dyno?
I have a 2001 GSR with mods.
Is it by the hour or just a set price?
And how long will the process take?
With basic bolt on you will gain only 3-5 hp but with cams and headwork you gain more hp with tuning. The dyno time is usually per hour but you maybe able to find a place that charges a base rate for tuning. Rates vary but it wont be cheap, but it will be worth it if you have more than the basic I/H/E setup.

I had my VAFC dynoed and tuned for like $88. That was for 6 runs on the dyno. Im getting CTR cams, stiffer inner springs, and cam gears. Im gonna get everything dynoed and tuned again, and be done with it.

Just like myflysi said, just putting the thing in your car isn't really going to do anything.

Even with I/H/E your only going to see a slight gain.

It all depends on what mods your planning on geting in the near future. If you plan to get cams, ect... then I would buy it now, and wait untill you get the cams befoe you have it dyno tuned. It would be a waste of money to get it tuned now, then a month or two down the road have to do it again.

If you are planning on waiting a while for other mods, then have it tuned to your presant mods. Even though you won't see a major gain, it will help out a little bit.
