Are 0w20 oils safe?

Hi everyone. Greetings from Poland here in Europe. I wanted to ask you all about your experiences with 0w20 oils, which are very criticised here in Europe. People say they are thin like water and thus no good. I know most of Americans use 0w20 regardless of the location, that is, whether it's hot Florida or cold Alaska.

Do you know of any true stories of engines damaged by 0w20? What mileages do you cover on your Hondas on 0w20 with no issues at all?

I just don't know what to pick for my 2.0 CRV and 2.0 Mazda CX-3. The manuals say it could be 0w20 or 5w30. Most people here use 5w30 or 0w30. Now both cars run on 5w30 Castrol API SN

I started using it at 212,000 miles on my 2 door Tahoe. The old seals seem to like it. I want to hit 300K with the original engine without it using, leaking or burning any oil. Why? Because I want to prove a point!
