Ok its time for a tune up. (123k baby) The other day I used some bg induction system cleaner and blew all the junk off of the insides. I will go for round two when I do all this other crap. now what i want to do is - hack my cat, get a DC header, denso iridium plugs, arospeed wires, a new AEM CAI intake(instead of my short ram ebay one) valve adjustment, and the usual oil change. so my questions are-

~what should i do first for the most power?

~are the plugs and wires worth it, they claim on 93 si they got 5lbft and 5 ponies more than stock plugs to the ground.

~what should i expect to gain by my dual exhaust i have now, a dc header and no cat besides LOUD?

~how much more power from AEM CAI versus ebay short ram?

~any other suggestions would be helpful and appreciated exept for getting an H22, i would love to, but i would like a nice benz truck or explorer for the winter.

Unless you have one side of the dual exhaust blocked or are able to engineer it on a dyno-foget that one. It can actually upset your power curve if done wrong.
The plugs and wires are a hot topic. I'll put my position out tho (based on a lot of years at this) - the stock plugs with low resistance wires are better than plain stock. The electrode is going to generally produce the same amount of spark energy because the coil and ignition box are unchanged. The type of material used for the electrode (platimum, iridium, copper whatever) have different wear rates thus determining how often they need gapped or replaced. Personal preference for wires is NGK "BLUE" and Accel. Reasonble pricing and actually give you some bang for the buck as they are both low resistance and long lasting.
Intakes-that is an area I cannot comment directly except I found an improvement over stock MPG using nothing more than a K&N drop-in element.
The balance of a tuneup is as you describe and will yield a better running engine. You might consider the full flush and fill of all fluids at this mileage point as a part of normal maintenance.
Last-it is ILLEGAL-to do any modification to the catalytic convertor on a street driven vehicle sold in the US-PERIOD! You will not have any real gain in output other than added pollutants. There is evidence that on an otherwise stock engine there is no real gain at any point in the power curve. If you are building an all out race car, be sure the sanctioning body permits the removal of the cat. You would be much better off using a hi-flow unit from Random Tech with the new header.
This will promote the proper flow and back pressure for your engine-which will yield better overall performance.
That's my view Good luck

throw in some synthetic motor oil when you do your oil change- i used royal purple. i cant say i FELT a difference in power, but it lasts waaayyyy longer than normal oil - like twice as long. supposedly adds about 5hp, from what ive heard, but most synthetice does. i saw in car craft ( i was at les schwab, and they had nothing else to read) that they did a dyno test on a mustang buy just changing the oil over to royal purple syn. they gained 7hp. pretty cool. so yeah. thats what i have to say. i have accell plug wires, too, but i didnt notice a big dif, but a little low end, maybe.
