Audiobahn AWT12 and Boss Overdrive 4000Watt amp?

I was just wondering if anyone has the Audiobahn AWT12's? I am looking for some opinions on them because they seem to be nice speakers, but i want to know the real truth, not what the dealers tell you to sell you a couple. Also, what amp are you using? I was plannin on usin a Boss Overdrive 4000Watt amp at 1/2 ohm. They match up well, but any opinions on the subs or the amp will be greatly appreciated.

boss 4000 watt overdrive:laff:

Is this your first system, why not try the audiobahn aw1200x with like a 600 watt amp, or get 2 subs and throw a 1200 watt amp, that boss amp is overrated!
Boss amps.. hehehehheh... sorry... Baaaahahahaha... no really sorry.....lol..

Please don't waste your money. I'd go for what 94 said, a nice audiobahn 12"er, and maybe a fosgate bd500.1. you'll thank yourself.

I had one of my neighbors arguing with me that his 2000W Boss put out more poop that my little 700W kicker, but he couldn't figure out why mine was louder. must be the subs. :D So we connect his amp to my subs, oh my gosh, at most that thing was putting out 300wRms, and it sounded like hell. They really aren't worth it. To me boss is about along the same lines as pyramid, kraco, those sorts of things.
Yea, i figured Boss Amps were overrated by around 500 or so watts. I was tryin to go with one amp, but i will go with two. The RMS on one sub is 2000, and a 4000 peak, so i want to at least get 2000 going to each. Any suggestions on an amp or two amps that can get 2000 to each? No this isnt my first system, just didnt know much about Boss. I have had some JL 15's, Pioneer 10's, Punch 12's, and know a shitload of people with some Kicker Comp VR's. the JL's would probably rule all other speakers i listed.
Let me break it down for you right quick!

Nexus makes powerfull amps, im not sure if you can find them but they put out alot of power the amp you want to look into would be the nexus lion! I hope you have some money, because you will need a bigger alternator for all those watts! I wouldn't do it but thats you!

I would like to suggest something for you, you may not like it but here it goes!

www.ddaudio.com <--- go here look at there subs if you really want to be loud get either the 9012 or the 9512, or if they are too expensive for you grab a 3512 which i have and love, i used to have audiobahn then i went to digital designs!

Digital Designs breaks all kinds of records, alot of the top competitors use them, they are handbuilt in the usa, you can only order from them factory direct, since they don't sell to other car audio shops!
To me they are one of the best companys out there since they will rebuild you a sub, say you have your 9012 for like a year now maybe more, and you decide its not like it was when it was new, send it back to digital designs and they will gut the sub and put all new parts back in the sub, for half the price you payed for it!
What other company will do that for you???

Another good thing about there subs is you wont need 4000 watts either!

When you see a boss amp, I would divide it's output by 4 to get an idea of what you are buying. I also wouldn't trust Audiobahn's RMS power ratings either.

If you want 2kW to each sub, be prepared to break out your wallet. There are really only a few true 2000W amps on the market. There's the Earthquake Shredder and Zapco makes a limited edition amp that is about equivalent to two 9.0C2K's put together. I'm sure there are more out there, but this is all that I can think of ...I'm an SQ guy for God's sake!!!

If they are DVC's, then put one JBL1200.1 on each coil. At around 300 each, they are the best bang for the buck on the market.

Now if you really want to go loud, then take the advise above and look into the DD subs that are mentioned above. These are not the only SPL sub around, but they are extremelly popular.

Also be prepared to run a BIG box and put as much port as you can in there. Also if you want to compete, tune it high, and make sure you have a subsonic filter.

Also, don't plan on running 4kW without some type of electrical system upgrade.

yea, thanks for the info about the amps. I do like the DD's, but one of my friends has them already, and i was looking for something different. I can get the Audiobahns for 355 each anyway, which is actually cheaper, but the amps to power them will be quite expensive. You are right, i have looked into the JBL amps, but it was also questionable, since it is soo cheap. If its only 300, the factory is doing something right, because with all of the bad comments about the boss, it is 800. I will look into the JBL amps though. Any comments about that would be appreciated. I was planning on buying a 5-farad Audiobahn Capacitor and a new yellow top battery, just for the system (excluding car operations). Do you think i would need a higher amp alternator still after i get the cap, and the battery? The cap should store up enough power to keep the stock alternator. Just let me know what you think about the JBL amps, and the subs also if anyone has any comments about them.
What does your friend run from dd?
I bet you can out hit him if you buy the right stuff!
Why do you want the awt12s so bad? You can find other subs that take less power and be louder then awt12s!
And yes if you even plan on running over 1500 watts i would upgrade your alternator as well!
Car Audio is a big thing around here, and all of the stuff most people mention, i know at least three people who have it. I dont know anybody with the AWT's, and they have them at my friends car audio store, and they SLAM in there!!. I want to have something different, but if you can name a great speaker for under 300, and i dont know anybody that has one, i will consider it. By the way, i looked around for the JBL amps, and i found them to be really good amps. I will probably buy a couple of them at the end of this week, and later on, ill buy a couple more. They have a 4.82/5.00 rating on Carreview.com, and that is really really good for some audio. There is usually always at least one negative comment about them, but i seen none. Thanks for the info on them though.
I think that it's silly to get a particular driver because no one has them. I would much rather have DD's over the Audiobahns. The audiobahns have such large surrounds that the surface area on their subs is compromised. That's why JL started releasing thw W7 in 13" diameters rather than 12" - to keep up with the piston size of normal 12" drivers. The same goes for the IDMAX. THey developed a new surround just to aleviate the problem of tradin off cone area for xmax.
Well, please take in mind that this isnt my complete decision yet. I am just thinking of what would be good to have. I know what you mean by the JL's and the ID MAX's, because they are great. I wouldnt mind about 4 JL W6 15's! :D Anyway, thanks for the help. I think i am gonna just shop around and see what speakers i can get for under 600 for both. Ill think about those DD's. i would want the 9012's if i got some of them. I may consider the Power HX-2's too. They seem to be good speakers.
You should buy 1 9512, build a nice big ported box and put a nice amp on it, man would you slam with just 1 sub! Swear to god!!!

You can get the 9515 for 479 shipped! And get 2 jbl 1200 amps and wire them to each voice coil, god i can just imagine how loud that would be! And you would be different from your friends because im sure there running pairs!

That setup would be loud or you can pick up 1 of those earthquake shredders instead of 2 jbl 1200 amps!

Go all out and get the 9512:vpleased:

Here's the right idea....all I can think of is ouch...powerful bass.
Boss is the most overrated worst quality worst sounding stuff out there. My friends "1000 watt Boss amp" but out less then his 160a2 he replaced it with. Boss overrates there stuff by like at least 3x. If you want good stuff for cheap go with online shops like www.nexxon.com www.thezeb.com www.mmxpress.com etc. Go with companies like fosgate soundstream planet audio Kicker JL etc for midline stereo for cheap. Dont go with some overrated Boss shit. I could shit in a box and say it pushes 1000 watts and but a one year warranty on it.
I know what you mean. Thats why i came here first to ask because i knew it had to be too good to be true that some Audio company is selling high-quality car audio stuff for that cheap. Im gonna go with 4 JBL 1200 Watt amps, and 2 DD 9012's, maybe even get the 9512's. I am lookin for some serious beat, so this should do it. One of my friends at school has two audiobahn amps powering 2 macdaddy 12's and hes hitting 157 dB, so i am gonna have to beat that. He wont have the best at school for long :) Thanks for all of your opinions, because i think you just saved me a big mistake. Any thought on my power hook up for the amps? I will probably have to go with a bigger alternator, because i am sure a 1998 accord Alternator isnt strong enough to power 4800 Watts of power. Ill buy a Optimus yellow top battery, some 2-gage wire to go from the amps to the distribution blocks, then 1/0 gage from there, with a BIG fuse, and a fuse on each of the 2 gage lines. Ill get all technical with that later, but do you think this will work? Ill probably need to go ahead and get a cap for each amp if i have to. Thanks for all your help.
