let me know what you think on this...size differences of the two heads?
thanx

form what I've heard from my mechanics, the base block is the same differs in head and other stuff. I'm just wondering if anyone has heard of this being done, if so I can do it dirt cheap. much less than buying/swapping an engine. I just don't want to go and set this up to find the smallest difference in size and have a bad fit.

Mechanic said blocks are the same

Well, ask your mechanic to show you a B16 block, and a D16 block.. there are big differences between a b16 and d16...

First off i am sure you know that a b16 is a DOHC, and a d16 is a SOHC... so right there is your first difference.. then... a sohc block does not have the same area or size at the top of the head as a dohc.. all you gotta do is go to anyone with an integra, take a ruler and measure the base o fthe head and you can see that.. now also...

Now dont get me wrong they have the same liters, 1595cc, but not the same block size

You can put a b16 head on another b series motor, case in point, ls block, b18a, with a b16 head, you have torque monster ls/vtec motor..

All b series parts are interchangeable as well.. e-mail me, i got a few links for you to see... maybe explain better than me..

dgrobe, I understand what your saying. I wasn't sure if there was a difference in the size of the base block. It seems that my only options would be to either stick with the d16c and mod the shit out of it or do the ls swap with the b16a head. I kinda want to get away from the d series and get into a b series so that I can have a better platform to work off of....and I gotta admit, I just about piss myself when I hear a dohc vtec kick in
gotta have one!
thanx

Frankenstein swaps are not very cheap, you are better off getting a b16a2 or b18c1. Plus it will be more reliable then trying to mix and match pieces.

LS/vtec, is good

I think that LS/Vtec is a good way to go, its just that you gotta have it done correctly.. i know a shop who makes LS/Vtec's, and i can probably get you one for pretty cheap, and i mean cheap...Iplan on puttin one in mine as soon as my buget works it in... if you are interested.. e-mail me..
