b18 swap

What kind of b18 swap or b16 swap can be done to a 90 integra rs? Cuz a buddy of mine wants to get some real power and he's got 200 k's on it and is thinking about an engine swap. Help me out?

b16 is pretty cool. which b18 are you talking about. The b18a that comes in it has the same hp as the b18b from 94-01 tegs. If he has the b18a already, i would suggest saving money and just rebuild that engine with some stronger internals. My friend is putting a built turbo b18a in his civic and its going to fly
I am in the same situation. If I were you I wouldn't go with the B16. I knew a guy that put a B16 in his G2 and It wasn't any faster than his LS motor he had in it before.

I would like to turbo, but as my main source of transportation I can't take the risk of having one of many possible things go wrong with a turbo. I know they can be reliable, but there is just too many things that could go wrong. I am thinking about rebuilding my block and attaching a VTEC head to it or swapping in a H22 motor. Have you thought about those two possiblities?

It's just a thought!
If you want "real" power, I would recommend a B18C. Not as difficult a swap as an H22, and none of the rebuilding bothers of the LS/VTEC hybrid. Also, it gives a decent kick-in-the-pants compared to B16 tegs, though much more expensive.
How does the swap work? Will it be a perfect fit?(perfect fit as in only minor enigne mount things and shit) and can you use your old tranny? What's the B18c? Is it the same block in the gsr's?

The motor is "bolt in", and if you use the mounts off the car's original B18A, you will be fine. You can use your old tranny, but it is not recommended because the B18C's tranny is geared much closer for the faster revs that VTEC engines need. The B18C is the 94-01 GSR engine, but for ease of transplant look for a 94-95 engine due to the OBD1 parts that come with it already (ECU, distributor, injectors, wires, etc).
HASport makes a drop in kit for a H22A in a 92-95 civic and 94-00 integra. It isn't that hard of a swap.

He has a 90, a second gen. Not a 94-01 third gen. The kit in not interchangable. I do believe, however, Place Racing makes an H22/90-93 Integra kit.
Bah, just cause they make the drop in kit doesn't mean its as straightforward as it may seem. The biggest thing with the h22a swap is that the h22a leans towards the firewall. Not to mention its damn near impossible to keep A/C and don't even think about power steering (all though most of us don't like power steering anyways). And isn't this a 1990 Integra? the 94-01 mount kit for a h22a wouldn't work for a 1990 Integra...just a few things to think about before you go and buy a motor. Another option, just build up your block and run turbo with high boost and everyone will run in fear when they hear the hiss of your blow off valve and the large front mount intercooler!!
I wasn't saying it would work. I am aware it won't. I was just saying that companies do make mount kits for that type of thing if you do a few searches. There is nothing wrong with a H22 in a teg.
go with the b16a

I love posts like this. Y?

Anyway, if you do go b-series to b-series motor do yourself a favor and get new motor mounts. I know they may not need to be replaces, but better safe than sorry.

Also, b18c1sol, I thought the b18b's from the 94-01 tegs had more hp than the b18a's in the G2's. If I'm not mistaken this is largely in part to the porting of the head. Let me know if I'm worng.
The B16A is too slow in a G2. My friend did the swap and his car wasn't any faster than before. If you want a B series get a B18C.
90 teg rebuild

I also have a 90 teg. I have 175K on the engine. How much would it cost to rebuild the engine and how reliable would the engine be if i were to turbo it afterwords? Also would it just be better to swap in another B18A instead of rebuilding it? thanks
IMO You're better off rebuilding. that's what I'm doing. You may also want to look at SC's instead of Turbo. After the rebuild (or even at stock) your compression might be too high for a turbo to be as effective as you want it to be.

What I would do is price all the parts that you will want to put in your engine. Then add about 200-500 for labor costs.

Compare that to the price of a new B18A swap and decide which you want to do. Personally if you are going to be running any serious amount of boost I would rebuild your current engine with lower CR pistons. I think you would be far more happy with that setup.
Good Idea for the turbo. What I'm doing is swapping on a 99 (LS) head (if I can get someone to reply to my questions hint, hint), then later have the bottom end built up. b18a ->Teg22b! Then I'll look for a JRSC. All while spending no money on cosmetics. ...sleeEEEEEPPEERRRRR!!!!!!

Yeah I am building up my block, but the other way. I am going higher CR. I was looking at turbo, but it just isn't for me. I need to depend on my car and with a turbo it seems that there are so many things that could go wrong. I was looking into a JRSC but I have never been that impressed with their numbers.
i too have a g2 ls. i want to stick with the stock motor and build it up, anyone know any good shops in dc/va/md area?
