the b16a is the jdm motor and can be ordered from just about any online honda motor distributer, as for the other setup up it will be cheaper to go with the b16a, and alot less hassel. Even though you won't be getting as much HP.

If you can find a B18c then go with that.
Is money an issue?

If it is the b18a/b is cheaper and has nice torque. Not
to mention you can find them alot easier. I personally
would not get a b18c with a b16a head. Why not just
go for the full b18c. If money is not an issue. Hope this
was helpful. Later
I dont really see the point in putting a B16 head on a b18C. Please explain that to me. There are US versions of the B16 that can be found over here also. Its not only put in cars in Japan.
IMO get the B18a/b w/ the B16 head
yeah i agree. if ur gonna swap dont use the b16 head on a b18 block unless ur planning on going turbo becuase u will have low compression. u coudl go the other way and do the b18c head on a b16 block. but best way to go would be just go for the whole b18c motor. u get the most power.
sorry i wasnt very clear. i really meant to say that my choices are to go with a b18c engine complete OR get a b18b block and throw the b16a head onto it. sorry for the confusion. also which trnsmission should i chose. i was told that that type r transmission would no go right with the ls/vtec because of the gearing but would with the b18c. maybe the gsr tranny for the ls/vtec?
The b16 head on the b18c block is a "Poor Mans B18C5." The true ITR head is basically a better flowing b16 head..
the reason im looking into the b18b block with the b16a head is because i heard that it is more suitable for daily driving and less expensive to keep up. would it be better to just find a b18c block and but a ITR head on it?
I heard that in order to have a well performing daily driven LS/VTEC or CR-VTEC, the internals have to be built in order to withstand the higher RPM's from the VTEC head.. I really don't know though; you're probably better off asking this in the Hybrid forum. They could answer your question the best..
LS/VTEC

A ls vtec motor is just like everyone is saying.. a poormans Type R.. well anyway.. you get a ls block and put a B16 vtec head on it.. but its not that simple.. there is a lot of work to be dont in prepping the block.. ie oil lines and the oil pump.. Now i got a hookup with a guy in Cali who specializes in LS/vtec, and CRvtec.. i can get you a LS/VTEC motor, complete motor for 1200 plus shipping... that is a complete longblock.. intake and exhaust manifolds as well.. e-mail me at [email protected] and i can get you more info...

LAterz
i think ill just save up and buy the b18c motor. thanks for your information
