I am currently replacing the alternator in my 2000 Civic SI. What is the best method for removing the alternator. I was told that you have to pull the drivers side CV Shaft in order to make clearance to remove the alternator. Is there another method??? Thanks, Jonathan

you're kidding right, you don't think he was serious do you
i had a 97 civic i was told to pull the right front (driver side) axle, it had the d16y8 in it. i pulled the alternator out from the top with no problem, just had to wiggle it a little bit

It is possible to get it our from the top. Your gonna need to unbolt a couple of brackets, and pull hoses out of the way, but it will squeaze through barely.

try to get it out the best way u can but removing axle is usually the easier way. but if u can dick around and get it out without the axle being removed then good job
