Best Place to Buy Tires?

2677 Views 24 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  deMad10
I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I'm sure it'll get moved if it's not. I'm in desparate need for new tires this spring when I put my wheels back on, and I was wondering what vendors have the best prices for quality tires?
Also, any suggestions on what I should get? 205/40 R17. I'd like to have a Z rating.

kumho ecsta supra 712 is very popular now among import enthusiasts... they are z rated, they have a unique tread design and they grip nicely... most importantly, they are very well priced... check em out at discounttiredirect.com

I'll do that, thanks for the info!
no problem...
i have the kumhos and i love them! they are priced so nicely too...
How's the tread wear on them? I know what the raiting is, but in actual real life driving, how long do they last?
i've put 10k miles on them and they have worn fairly well for how agressive i drive. the front ones wore fast because those wear the fastest with any car, you just have to rotate them quite offten to get the most life out of them. usually peoeple get around 30k miles out of a pair.
I had my Kumho's for about a year. If I had my camber kit back then they would have lasted longer.

www.tirerack.com hands down the best place to buy tires.
I've looked on Tire Rack often, but they don't carry all the brands that I'd like to see them carry. That is why I created this post, to see f there were any other good vendors that carried tires different or for a better price than tire rack. I'm not sure what tires to go with now.
The Supras seem decent for the money, but what about the Pirelli 405's is it?
ive never seen better prices than tirerack for performance tires....you could check out www.discounttiredirect.com they carry some different brands than tirerack and also have good service, i got my Falken Azenis in 2 days

PS. ive never heard of pirelli 405's?
How does everyone get their tires balanced if they buy them online?

I am due for a new set.
Sorry, I meant the Nitto 450's, I mixed my brands and numbers up.
If you don't have a good tire store near you, buying tires online from TireRack.com is probably your best option. Other than that, many performance parts shops can get you pretty good deals with tires and rims. However, if there is no one around you, TireRack is the way to go.

i get my tires balanced at sears
If you're looking for Nitto NT450s, this is a pretty common tire for performance shops to carry. They are normally used in tire package deals and aren't excessively expensive. Find a Nitto dealer near you and get a deal from them.

If you buy tires from TireRack, they will mount and balance them for free. It might take them a day though.

I have a TireWarehouse in my hometown, and they'll pricematch any on-line vendors. So I just need a good place to show them, and then I'll get my tires locally.
