BRAKES??

Whats up everyone? I am just trying to find out about the front rotors. The manual says that the axles need to be taken out in order to remove the rotors. Is this true? I have a 1997 LX, I have never heard of having to remove the axles in order to replace them. Well, if anyone can let me know if this is true it would really help me out. I am going to be changing them soon, and I want to be prepared. Thanks for you help.

yes, what you are about to do here
is no simple task for project
its tedious and takes time and patients
basically you have to take apart your whole front suspension assembly
cause you have to go behind the rotors to get em out
and even when you do get that whole front arm out
you have need a machine to press em out
cause you will be there for a while

if you need more info just post back
and i'll give you more info
just let me know where you are at on this ..

yes, it is true but not exactly, you also have to remove the hub from the rotor assembly because the rotors sit between the hub and the assemble. Removing the arm is a must and then you remove the whole assembly from the axle, be careful not to rip your cv boots and other boots on the arm. Also you will need ball joint removers to safely remove the ball joints and their boots. Then to replace the rotors, play they are not seized(rusted to the assembly) or else you prbably will have to take it to a shop. Believe me, a sledgehammer won't separate the two even after all the bolts are off! Btu after that it is easy. I just wish honda rotors on the accord where just two outer bolts but they are not. The bolts are recessed and located behind the rotor assembly and are impossible to reach w/o removing the arm.

well there goes for a more specific explaination
same in a 94?

Hey do you have to do the same stuff removing everything in a 94 lx too. If so that sucks.

Hey, Chirp4thgear, can you really do that. Thats pretty sick, just the other day i chirped 3rd and i only got AEM cai and DC headers on my 94 lx. What do you have done to your car to do that. Props to you man.
Damn, this kind of sucks. This is the first car I ever had that I have to completely pull out the axles to change the rotors. Oh well, Maybe I will wait until I do my engine swap, that way I dont have to do it twice. I think I have to use the prelude axles when I do an H22 swap, is that right? If so, will the same rotors fit the prelude axles. Thanks everyone for your help
