So I'm looking at buying a used car, and am leaning towards a Honda or possibly a Toyota. I owned a 1990 Civic for a few years and loved that car, so I'll probably go with Honda again. My question is would it be better to get a newer Honda with higher miles, or an older Honda with lower miles? My budget is around $5,500. For example, I found a 1980 Prelude with only 46k, which is pretty comparable in price to an early 2000's model with over 150k. I know Hondas have a reputation for running forever, and 46k is pretty low, but a car that's 35 years old can't really be that reliable, right? Any insight would be appreciated, thanks!

35 years old and still running, not bad but like ATISTANG said, vac lines become an issue. I have done those on a few. Pick up some line from a parts store and replace EVERYTHING.
Also, check out all rubber areas of the car. Rubber does not stand up to time.

IMHO, you should get a newer Honda with higher miles. Also, because of older Honda cars break down very often, you'll have to spend a lot of money on maintenance.
In any case, if you buy a car, you should also think about shipping and I think this car shipping company can help you with that.
I cooperated with these guys many times and every time they delivered my car fast and without any problems.

Good day. My first car was a Subaru Impreza WRX. For a very long time I doubted buying this car, besides, the copy that I liked was very far away. But still, when I consulted with my family, it was decided to buy this car. After the purchase, the question arose about how to deliver the car to my home. As much as I did not want to contact some kind of delivery service, I realized that upon delivery, the car could be scratched or damaged. Having overcome my fear, I trusted the company and the guys from cheap state to state car towing Delivery was made in 2 days. I examined the car when it fell into my hands. Thank goodness I found no damage.
I attach a photo of my iron baby))
