Can We Do change Our gear ratios?

1023 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  SteVTEC
I was wondering if it were possible to have our final drive ratio changed as to give us more power. Can this be done, and what would the best gear ratios be for our car.

P.S.- Does Any company make cam-gears for our cars??
thanks for the help

:D

What about changing the tire sizes? Dosen't changing to smaller or larger wheels change your effective gear ratio or something like that?

Good point - I forgot about that :)

Larger than stock diameter will make the effective final drive taller (faster, smaller numerically)
Smaller than stock diameter will make the effective final drive ratio shorter (lower speed, higher numerically)

5.00:1 would be about golden for NA. Maybe a 4.60:1 for boosting. I have no idea if you could actually get that with available rims and tire sizes though, but it'd be neat to see :)
Ok, since we're on this topic. Can someone explain what gear ratio is? Any websites I can read up on it?
So, which is better for accelearation? top speed? Higher or lower gear ratios:confused:
u can change ur final drive ratio by changing transmissions
thats what they did to the AC-R it has an inspire trans in it which has a high final drive ratio
