Car wants to shut off when i put music. light be dimming. do i need to rewire my system or upgrade on my alternator?

Sounds like yhour pulling alot of power from your battery, try a power cap, if that doesn't work, your gonna end up blowing your alternator, and possibly battery. Alot of battery stores have seconds, which are brand new batteries that have like a dent or something like that, and they sell them half price, try finding an optima second, or a higher amp alternator, hope something helps.

Don't do a cap...they won't do anything unless its atleast a 25 farad. the little ones from walmart and crap dont do anything. wire in a second battery or upgrade the wire from the alternator to the batter to 4 gauge and the ground from the battery for a 4. make sure you take it to a place on the chasis with no paint on it. If that doesn't solve it its because the alternator is too small or shitting itself out

well theres alot you could do lol rewire the system, check alternator and battery, chances are if you pumpin some lound music or some big subs that can happen but it shouldnt want to kill your car, it could be the alternator or the battery

Secondly if you don't know why your car is having a problem and you installed a stereo system you obviously know nothing aobut its electrical system.

You are overburdening the cars battery and alternator more than likely. How many watts RMS are you running? Whats your speaker setup?

Id recommend getting a higher amp alternator and an overdrive pulley for it along with a 2 farad cap + a second battery, both mounted to your 5653W RMS amp.

You can get 800 CCA batterys from Sams for around 60 bucks. Fuck optimas they're over priced garbage.

The ground wire upgrade for the alternator wont help unlesss the alternators output potential is increased. Get some 2 gauge welding cable if your serious, its very flexible. and for FUCKS sake DO NOT FORGET TO FUSE YOR DAMN CAR. I'm tired of seeing you kids at walmart with fire extinguishers trying to put out a fire because your electrical skills are dog shit.
