Well bascially it's designed with rounded edges so as to reduce wind drag and thereby increase fuel efficiency.

yeah, but you have to have it cut and molded to fit your car. CF work doesn't come cheap so just get a 96-98 CF hood. I don't see why you need a 99-00???
