Has anyone tried to change their dash board illumination? I wanted to change my amber lighting to either a red or blue, maybe even white....some people have been working on this over at some of the RSX forums....

I have not pried apart my cluster, and I really don't want to. For those who have, is there an amber film that coats the numbers on the speedo for example, or are all of the led's back there amber, and the housing clear?

I would really like to see what's involved in getting this done.

Thanks

I've been wanting to do this ever since I got my car. The problem is that the amber film is inside the cluster. The lights they use to light up the cluster are just regular bulbs. If you shine a flashlight through the cluster, you'll still see the amber. One guy said his friend actually was able to get rid of the amber, but he said he wouldn't disclose how he did it. I'm thinking you'll have to totally disassemble the cluster in order to do it. I'm pretty sure you'll have to remove the needles in order to do this. I'm gonna attempt to do it, but I wanna find some gauges I can practice on first. And I'm still trying to find somewhere that I can get a needle removal tool from.

I was one of those people. Personally it's not worth doing. I took the paint off the back of the gauges with nail polish remover. Totally ruined the gauges cause from factory they shade it so there are no hot spots when the light bulb is directly behind the lines/numbers.

I tried everything from blue tint, blue paint, blue nail polish - and finally after taking it apart about 10 times - I sold them and purchased new gauges.

But I remember there was someone who claimed that his friend did it. And said he got it to look just like the non-Si's. Then again, he never showed proof...
